Volleyball camps for 2026/2027

What are the benefits of volleyball camps?

Volleyball camps build and strengthen skills to advance kids' and teens' games to the next level, offering training at various levels, from novice to advanced. Many summer volleyball camps group campers by age and experience so kids can progress at the right pace.

Volleyball skills! Camps listed above range widely in the skill level they focus on. Camps for younger kids teach fundamental skills like serving, passing, setting, spiking, and the basics of strategy, making the game fun for kids. Camps for more advanced players will teach set plays and more advanced strategies, along with things like strength conditioning and broadening players’ knowledge of volleyball. If you are choosing between summer volleyball camps, check whether the focus is on fundamentals, competitive play, or position-specific training.

Volleyball rules. Camps offer scrimmaging and gameplay, too, of course, teaching the rules of volleyball. These include rules about scoring, boundary lines, ball hits, serving, and other gameplay.

Communication skills. Communication is important in any team sport but notably in volleyball. Through gameplay and interaction, kids learn to listen and communicate. The emphasis is on immediacy and clarity. Encouragement and positive reinforcement are a big part of volleyball. Leadership skills naturally emerge on the court, as kids gain confidence, especially if they find their niche.

Athleticism and fitness. Advanced camps will incorporate fitness and training but the physical activity at any level of play is beneficial for kids. Some volleyball summer camps also include mobility, jumping mechanics, and injury-prevention habits as part of warmups and conditioning.

How to find the best volleyball camp or program

Here are two key questions to consider—and ask—as you research volleyball camps and programs:

• What are the qualifications of the coaches, and how much experience do they have in volleyball coaching and in running a camp?
• How big are the groupings and how much individual instruction is given to campers?

Volleyball camps: frequently asked questions

How do you choose the right level for volleyball summer camps?

Ask how campers are grouped (by age, experience, or skill assessment) and what a typical day includes. The best summer volleyball camps make it clear whether the focus is fundamentals, competitive play, or position-specific training.

What should you look for in coaching quality?

Look for clear coach-to-camper ratios, evidence of structured instruction (not only scrimmages), and a plan for feedback. Volleyball camps that outline what athletes will practice each day are easier to compare.

What is the difference between day formats and overnight options?

Day programs can be a better fit if you need local drop-off and pickup, while overnight volleyball camps can offer deeper immersion, more repetitions, and stronger team bonding. Ask how much on-court time is scheduled and how rest and recovery are handled.
