Oxford Learning Waterloo is an education-focused learning centre serving families in the Waterloo region. Established over two decades ago, we specialize in helping children build strong academic & cognitive foundations through intentional, research-based programming. Our summer camps run weekly throughout July & August and are designed for students in Grades 1–6. Each full-day camp blends engaging themes with daily academic instruction in literacy, numeracy, and thinking skills, led by trained educators in small groups. Programs also include hands-on activities, creativity, collaboration, & outdoor time. We offer a singular focus: meaningful learning that builds confidence, independence, & long-term success, while still making summer fun!
We are known for doing one thing exceptionally well: building confident, independent learners. Unlike traditional camps, our programs are intentionally designed by educators to strengthen how children think, learn, & problem-solve. We are the only learning centre licensed to administer comprehensive cognitive testing for students, allowing us to truly understand how each child learns best. Every day blends structured academic instruction with engaging themes, hands-on activities, and outdoor time, so learning feels purposeful, not forced. Our culture is calm, supportive, & growth-focused. Children learn in small groups, feel seen, and are encouraged to stretch without pressure. Our philosophy is simple: confidence comes from understanding.

Oxford Learning’s focus on giving kids academic confidence is built into their camps. Students aged 5 to 11 take part in fun programming that blends hands-on activities, collaborative play, and outdoor time with learning problem-solving, math, and literacy. Small groups and a supportive environment encourage kids to grow more self-sufficient and courageous. It’s all rooted in Oxford Learning’s holistic approach to learning and personal development, where kids aren’t taught so much as coached in how to more effectively use their minds. Processing information is emphasized over memorization or repetition. For each student or camper, learning becomes more manageable, thanks to this individually-adapted approach that helps them grow more self-aware and confident.

Our staff bring diverse professional backgrounds, including child psychology, certified teaching, & engineering, allowing us to support a wide range of learners. All team members complete specialized, proprietary Oxford Learning training focused on our systems and on supporting children of all abilities. We are the only learning centre licensed to administer our Dynamic Assessment, led by certified assessors. Campers consistently say our staff make each day feel welcoming, engaging, and personal. Ratios are program-dependent, ranging from 1:3 to 1:10. Our team is approximately 60% female & 40% male, with strong retention. Many staff stay for years and often return to support summer programs even after moving into full-time roles elsewhere.
