These camps give a basic introduction to mobility around the camp, then progress children through personal care, relationships, outdoor skills and social skills. Through challenging and rewarding experiences, campers make new friends, learn new skills, gain self-confidence and acquire critical life skills.
Activities at a specialized camp for visually impaired kids are carried out in a protected and fun environment and adapted to the ability of each camper, to ensure maximum participation, safety and fun. Music camps for kids who are blind or visually-impaired are especially popular. These camps explore Folk Music, Harmonica, Ethnic Percussion, Songwriting, and Braille Music.
If a participant requires a personal care worker, this assistant can also attend certain camps at a reduced rate.
Families enjoy peace of mind that their family member is having a good time with trained, dedicated volunteers ready to help participants learn and enjoy themselves in a safe and healthy environment.
Learn directly from the camps here how they can help your visually impaired child live the best summer camp experience.
