    Director's Message

At BGC Ottawa, day camp is about so much more than filling the day, it’s about belonging, growth and discovering what you’re capable of. As Director of Camps and Program Services, I have the privilege of seeing the impact of our programs every day as campers build confidence, try new things and form friendships that last well beyond camp. Our day camps are rooted in fun, care and opportunity. Whether campers are creating art, playing games, heading out on out trips or simply laughing with friends, our goal is always the same: to create a safe, welcoming space where every child feels valued and excited to return each day. We’re proud of the experiences we offer and the incredible staff who make them possible. I can’t wait to welcome families to another unforgettable day camp season at BGC Ottawa.

    Staff and Counsellors

Our camp team is made up of trained, caring professionals who bring energy, expertise and continuity to every day. Each Clubhouse has a Day Camp Lead overseeing programming and supporting families, backed by Youth Development and Program Specialists who guide counsellors and campers alike. Day Camp Counsellors are the heart of our program, creating safe, welcoming and fun environments. All staff complete thorough training, including first aid, safety, accessibility, leadership and activity planning, ensuring every camper is supported, challenged and inspired to grow.

More details about property: BGC Ottawa’s Clubhouses are welcoming, purpose-built spaces where children and youth can learn, play and feel a true sense of belonging. Each location is thoughtfully designed to support a wide range of activities and experiences that bring our Four Pillars of Programming to life: Creative Arts, Education, Leadership & Social Skills and Physical Activity & Healthy Living. Across our Clubhouses, families can expect bright, engaging spaces that support active play, creativity and connection. Facilities include full-sized gymnasiums for sports and group games, dedicated studios for art, music and movement, technology and learning spaces, and comfortable areas for collaboration and social time. Whether campers are creating, moving, learning or relaxing with friends, every space is designed with safety, accessibility and fun in mind. More than just buildings, our Clubhouses are vibrant community hubs. They are places where children feel welcomed and supported, staff know campers by name, and every day offers opportunities to build confidence, explore interests and form lasting friendships.

Is your property accessible for persons with disabilities? Yes. BGC Ottawa is committed to creating inclusive, welcoming environments where every child can participate, belong and thrive. Our Clubhouses and programs are designed with accessibility in mind, and we work closely with families to understand and support each child’s individual needs. Our day camps operate with an average 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio, allowing counsellors to provide attentive, supportive supervision throughout the day. Camp programming follows a hands-off support model, meaning campers are encouraged to build independence, confidence and social skills while participating fully alongside their peers. We work closely with families to understand each child’s individual needs and, when our programs aren’t the best fit, we’re happy to help connect families with referrals to other camps and community supports that may better meet their needs.

    Accommodations

Are meals provided? Campers must bring a nut-free, non-microwavable lunch and snacks to camp each day. A healthy snack can be provided if needed.

Is BGC Ottawa technology free? Yes. At BGC Ottawa Day Camps, we believe the best moments happen when kids can unplug and fully enjoy the world around them. Our camps are intentionally technology-free, giving campers a break from screens and an opportunity to connect face-to-face with friends, counsellors and their surroundings. Without devices, campers spend their days moving, creating, collaborating and exploring, whether they’re playing games, making art, tackling group challenges or enjoying outdoor time. This screen-free approach encourages imagination, builds social skills and helps children stay present, engaged and active throughout the day. Parents can feel confident knowing their child is spending their camp time learning, laughing and making meaningful connections.
