Computer camp is the ideal way for the young computer enthusiast to expand his or her skill set and indulge a love of technology. Programs at computer camps can include graphics and web design, coding and programming, digital art and even things like video game design. Many camps are not all work, either, with many offering game play time, where kids indulge in the latest Playstation, Xbox and Wii games.
Several college and university campuses conduct computer camps as they can provide computer labs and other facilities. Campers are usually between 8-18 years old. Computer camps teach courses in a wide range of subjects such as hardware, networking, programming, game design, image manipulation, video production, web design, robotics and software applications. Video editing, animation and graphics programs are also taught. Reputed computer camps have experienced teachers and professionals with excellent backgrounds and superior knowledge.
These can include day camp or residential (overnight camps) and include curricula for kids of all ages. Aside from learning, your child will also benefit from interaction with like-minded young high tech enthusiasts.
Although computers are the main focus, camps also offer sports and recreation programs. Computer camps blend technology with non-tech activities to create a well-rounded summer camp experience for children. The enjoyable sessions allow campers to make new friends, build self-confidence and become part of a community. Computer camps offer a variety of workshops, projects and games each day. Traditional camping activities like horseback riding, canoeing and campfires add to the entertainment.
It is also interesting to note that there are a growing number of "camps" that are in fact virtual - offered online only.
Listed above you will find many camps focusing on computer programming and related activities, followed by kids camps where computer-related activities are part of the variety of summer camp activities offered.
