French camps offer programs from a basic level for students who want to begin studying French, up to an advanced level for students who wish to improve their French skills. An oral and written test may be conducted at some camps in order to assess a camper’s current level of French. Campers will then be placed in the camp class that best suits their needs. Students at French camps can develop their skills in listening, speaking, writing, reading, conversation and grammar in the French language.
What to expect at French camp
Plays, movies, skits and more such activities further enhance the learning experience at French camps. English-speaking children are immersed in the French language experience. A student also has to complete certain written exercises based on his/her linguistic development and any weak area are remedied. Experienced counselors of 18 years old or older are available 24 hours a day at overnight camps. At some camps, students are fully integrated into family life, meet with local French teenagers, and practise French in real-life situations.
Campers can imitate sounds, memorize whole sentences and learn the use of French in songs, easy texts, games, and theater at French camps. Home stay programs enable campers to stay with local host families who are happy to integrate them into their family lives. Camps throughout Quebec offer the very best imaginable French language immersion. French camps are highly successful and there are many children, teenagers and adults who join such camps to learn a new language and experience a foreign culture in an enjoyable setting.
