At the great majority of camps in this area, kids stay overnight – and they love it! This is the proper way to experience Ontario's north country, for suburban and southern Ontario children and teens. First time campers should find themselves falling in love with outdoor activities like canoeing and swimming. You might also be graced with a wildlife sighting or two, and there are plenty of outdoor adventures, possible only in a summer camp like those near Huntsville.
Because the area is a hotspot for families, there are indeed a wide variety of Huntsville camps beyond just the traditional camps with typical outdoor activities like a rock climbing wall, etc. This is also just one of northern Ontario destinations that also include Torrance and Algonquin Park kids' camps.
Here's a brief look at some examples:
Christian summer camps are quite proliferate in the area. Many of these are indeed traditional, overnight programs. The appeal of these for families may be obvious, offering as they do immersion in the natural world, in a faith-based environment. Kids who attend these love the friendships they foster. They meet kids from across the province who share similar background and beliefs. A number of these Muskoka summer camps also focus on a family-orientation, allowing Christian families to strengthen bonds, worship together and grow in faith.
Physical disability camps in the Muskoka region provide a natural milieu for physically challenged kids. Kids with special physical needs participate in classic summer camp activities like canoe trips and other encounters with nature, in a safe, secure environment where counselors and support staff are well-trained to care for them. These Muskoka camps are attended by kids from all over, providing an enriching experience for children of all abilities in camp sessions that are integrated.
There are a number of sports camps in the area, as well. Boys and girls have an immersive experience in both kids' camp and the sport they love. Summer hockey schools in particular, attract kids from major cities like the GTA and Ottawa. Kids get together in the woods of Ontario and improve athletic skills. Other sports available at camps in the area are water sports, of course, and things like wilderness trips. The list goes on, as you see above.
Muskoka and Huntsville are also home to day camps and march break camps, ideal for kids living or whose family is vacationing in the area. In particular, spring break camps here offer an unusual retreat for kids, and these are attended by kids as far away as Toronto and Montreal. Day camps in Huntsville and area present unique opportunities to learn, to improve sports skills, or to immerse yourself in an extra-curricular interest you love. Kids from the area also benefit greatly from Muskoka day camps like some of those listed above.
