How to find the best camp in The Beach, Toronto

The best place to start, for Toronto families is the annual Toronto Camp Expo, where day camps from across the city and overnight camps from across the province converge every February. Register now, then when you meet camps there or at open houses or other events, come armed with the right questions starting with the following:

  • What’s the goal or projected outcome of the camp?
  • How much focus is there on activities my child likes? (Can I see a schedule?)
  • Are campers grouped by age, experience, or any other factor?
  • What’s the ratio of counsellor-to-campers?
  • What training do leaders have in discipline, bullying, and safety (First Aid, etc.)?
  • Is before and after care available, and is the camp flexible to fit my schedule?
  • What camp facilities are there and how up-to-date are they?
  • How do parents communicate with leaders or with the camp?
  • What financial aid is available? Are there sibling discounts?
  • What is the camp’s policy concerning food allergies or special diets?
