Shadow Lake Centre is an inclusive overnight camp and year-round retreat centre operated by Community Living Toronto for people of all abilities. Located on 300 acres of the Oak Ridges Moraine in Stouffville, Ontario, we have been offering camp experiences for decades. Our programming includes summer camp, year-round camp, group rental opportunities, and PA Day camps. Activities range from arts and crafts, sports, swimming, and boating to music, campfires, and themed programs. We serve children, youth, and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, as well as PA Day campers ages 5+ of all abilities. Program lengths vary from single-day camps to weeklong overnight stays.
What sets us apart is our deeply person-centred approach and culture of care. Each camper’s experience is shaped around their interests, abilities, and goals, rather than fitting into a fixed program. While we offer a wide range of activities, our true focus is how each person is supported within them. Our flexible support ratios (from 1:1 to 5:1 and 8:1) ensure campers receive the right level of support while still enjoying a true camp experience. Exceptionally trained staff provide consistent care from morning routines through bedtime, creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. Families choose Shadow Lake Centre for our inclusive culture, experienced leadership, and long-term focus on building confidence, and independence.
Choose the right programs and sessions for your child; Shadow Lake Centre currently has 0 program available; 15 TBD.

Families can find program details, timelines, and registration dates on the Shadow Lake Centre website- www.shadowlakecentre.ca. Registration opens in advance, and families register online by creating a MyCommunityHub profile once it is live. While many programs are open to all, some support ratios—especially 1:1 and 2:1—are limited and often fill on the first day. Our team works closely with families to confirm the appropriate support level and may connect by phone or virtually to discuss individual needs. PA Day camp registration is handled directly through our team by email or phone. We are responsive and happy to guide families through the process. For questions, contact [email protected] or call 905-640-6432.

The Shadow Lake Centre was established by Community Living Toronto in 1970 and has grown considerably since then. Through the 1980s and 1990s the completion of two major capital campaigns resulted in year-round facilities and programs. The motto of Community Living is “A society where everyone belongs. A society where everyone is valued.” In so many ways, the centre is the physical embodiment of precisely that. Campers arrive to a setting in which their challenges are addressed with empathy, understanding, and experience. They also enter a community of true peers. For anyone, that can be life altering—we all want to go where everyone knows our name, to be sure, and even better if they share our perspectives, challenges, and joys. The setting is well appointed, situated on a 300-acre property within the Oak Ridges Moraine. The staffing is well trained, and there’s a very high camper-to-staff ratio. There’s at least one staff member awake in each cabin through the night, which rightly adds to the sense of care and comfort all round. Health care workers are also on site.
