What do kids and teens learn in volleyball classes?

Volleyball classes and lessons offer professional instruction and equipment in drills, warm-ups, and games. Young players learn serving, passing, blocking, attacking, and footwork techniques. Coaches also ensure players know the basic rules of the game, such as how to read court boundaries, for both indoor and outdoor matches. They also learn all other rules of the game. 

Lessons are led by trained coaches with volleyball experience. Professional-level balls and nets are provided in these programs, of course, however, players may be required to purchase knee pads and shoes before classes begin. Prices for volleyball lessons begin at $250.

You will find supportive, friendly competition in advanced volleyball programs. Recreational play is encouraged by coaches, as players work together to hone their skills. If children wish to advance to school teams, house leagues, or other competitive programs, higher level volleyball lessons provide them with a strong foundation.

Healthy and effective communication are also part of these programs. Team members are expected to communicate strategies or ‘plays’ with each other before and during games. On-court  communication ensures that all team members know who is approaching the ball at all times to prevent misunderstandings and injuries. Class sizes are typically smaller in advanced programs, so kids receive more one-to-one direction from teachers.
