ADVANCED FUNCTIONS 12 | MHF4U | ON-CAMPUS

This course extends students’ experience with functions. Students will investigate the properties of polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions; develop techniques for combining functions; broaden their understanding of rates of change; and develop facility in applying these concepts and skills. Students will also refine their use of the mathematical processes necessary for success in senior mathematics. This course is intended both for students taking the Calculus and Vectors course as a prerequisite for a university program and for those wishing to consolidate their understanding of mathematics before proceeding to any one of a variety of university programs. 

This course will take place during the month of August and the delivery of the course material relies on technology to establish a live daily connection between the teacher and the students. Students will work in groups or as a whole class interacting with the teacher and their peers using text, audio, video and screen sharing. This live correspondence will take place in the mornings (Eastern Daylight Time), from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Students will continue with their independent work for 2 hours daily after their online time using the shared OneNote Binders, with access to video solutions from Appleby teachers and asynchronous chat with students and faculty. Feedback on homework is provided by the teacher as students work their way through the curriculum.
