Survival Skills Sr. - Sports and Adventure

This adventurous week will be full of physical and mental challenges, outdoor adventures, co-operative games, theme days, and plenty of team building activities that develop the skills essential to survive in the wilderness while at the same time growing campers' understanding of the urban wilderness! Through exploration and adventure alongside our experienced wilderness guides and outdoor educators, campers work together in small groups gaining knowledge of plants, mammals, tracking, birds and survival skills.

With a focus on appreciation of nature, community and self, our highly trained instructors facilitate a variety of skill building hands-on activities such as: camp safety, orienteering exercises, shelter building, cordage (making rope out of plants), fire by friction, plant identification, bush craft: knots, tarps, ropes, wood, and primitive tools such as bows, arrows, stone tools and more. Campers will have skills reinforced during a weekly archery workshop led by experienced and qualified instructors. Campers will learn to use field guides to identify and research local wildlife.
