(5) Overall experience

Kamren Hussen attended the Sports Discovery SR camp for a number of weeks this summer. We wanted to give a special shout-out to Makhail for being such a lovely, kind, attentive, and fun counsellor! Kamren had the best time with him! We were very happy with his updates every day and his attentiveness to Kamren, to ensure that he had a positive experience at the camp each week he was there. We all really appreciate his time and efforts.

(5) Reason for choosing the camp

Fun camp experience and the variety of programs offered. Situated on a beautiful campus on the lake, which makes it a fun location. We really appreciate the variety of activities as well; all the different sports and fields are great for keeping the kids entertained and engaged all day.

(5) Program quality and activities

The quality of the programs was satisfactory. Each child had a variety of options to choose from, which made the camp experience more enticing and exciting, so that each kid was able to find something that they liked. I really appreciate the counsellors as well. Each one engaged with the children and actively participated. We enjoyed hearing all the stories every day.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

Kamren made new friends every week he was at camp. He opened up, and we really enjoyed hearing about all the friends that he made. Makhail played a big part in ensuring that he had a quality experience each week. He told us what happened each day and how Kamren interacted with the other campers. It was very kind of him

(5) Skills and growth

His skills in sports improved every week. He was able to demonstrate to us what he was doing and which skills had improved. He mentioned that Makhail helped him and played a lot with him. His favourite game was gagaball. He enjoyed learning new sports too. We noticed his confidence improved greatly, and we were really happy to see the changes.

(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

Makhail deserves a special award or recognition for his excellent skills with the kids and his ability to keep them entertained. Every day at pick-up, we received an update on what the children did and how much fun they had. There was also a reminder of the next day's activities and what to bring.

(5) Advice and tips

The advice that I would give to friends considering joining is to sign up early for the camp! The good programs fill up quickly. The minimum word requirements in the survey are unnecessarily long. It would have been easier to provide feedback in a different manner. I only completed the survey to make sure that counsellor Makhail is recognized.
