    What do online music lessons teach?

    Through Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams, kids undergo intensive training in the instrument of their choice. Lessons in more “traditional” instruments such as guitar or piano are available, as well as training in other instruments like the cello or drums. Most programs listed above are private, though some programs provide group instruction. For instance, in the latter program, kids may receive training for performing in a rock band.

    Concerts and recitals are held every year. Students display their talents for friends and family at these events. There are other performance opportunities in similar programs, where musical training is part of the curriculum such as singing lessons. Independent learning is emphasized in this class. As instructors provide feedback, kids must make corrections on their own. 

    About advanced online music lessons

    In advanced online music lessons, the virtual format does not interfere with the quality of education kids receive. Essential music techniques such as rhythm, tone, and pitch are taught with the same passion and through the same means as in-person music training. Skills essential to children’s chosen instruments are taught in-depth as well, such as strumming for the guitar or breathing techniques for the flute.

    In most private online music programs, children receive personalized feedback, which will be provided instantaneously through virtual software or programs. In group lessons, kids receive feedback not only from their instructors but from their peers as well. Online music lessons are a convenient way for kids to become better and more passionate musicians.

    Why enrol in music lessons online?

    Online music lessons offer many unique academic and personal benefits for kids and teens. Here are some of the main ones:

    • Distractions decrease as kids practice their instrument in a familiar environment. This increases the amount of time spent learning in class and improves children’s retention.
    • Less pressure. Performances are made easy in online music training since kids perform in a comfortable environment. Virtual audiences are also less daunting, helping kids focus solely on their playing.
    • Academic benefits. Children’s reading comprehension and problem-solving skills can be honed during music lessons, which can then reap benefits in school performances. Time signatures are also a great way for kids to practice fractions!
    • Music is a form of self-care, as it stabilizes the body’s blood pressure and clears the mind. Children learn to reach for their instrument in moments of high stress.
    • Technological benefits. Technology has made learning easier. For online music programs, instructors can record meetings so their students can rewatch their mistakes and replay their instructor’s feedback. The virtual format also allows kids to receive feedback quicker outside of class time.
