Children become superstars in singing programs! Instructors follow classical training curricula which develop major skills like vocal placement, tone, projection, enunciation, and breath control. Children ages 4 and up can participate in singing lessons. Younger pupils learn basic techniques while intermediate singers perform songs with complex notes and time signatures and a broader range of scales.
Programs specialise in individual and/or ensemble performance, exploring genres such as pop, rock, or musical theatre.
Recitals typically conclude a singing class or program, great practice for aspiring performers. In either group or solo performances, children present their vocal talents and range to an audience of parents, friends, and strangers. Pricing for singing programs varies. Year-long lessons are often paid per session and begin at $15 per each. Condensed programs, such as camps or semester-based programs, are more costly, ranging from $100-$350. Lessons are available online or in-person, and curriculum remains constant through both formats.
Advanced programs include training in both solo and ensemble performance to develop unique and professional singing skills. For example, soloists polish vocal techniques within their range, while ensemble performance focuses on harmonization, where students must blend their voices together to produce pitch-perfect sounds. This hybrid approach challenges children’s individual and collaborative work habits.
In advanced programs, children are also given opportunities to compose and write their own songs. This increases their self-expression, allowing them to perform songs that personally excite them! Training in song writing and solo or group performance assists children in pursuing musical theatre or professional singing careers.
Consult with individual programs listed above to learn what they teach.
Singing programs have intensive training that satisfies eager musicians. Some things your child will find in these programs are:
Some programs include musical instrument training, and children’s voices accompany a broad range of instruments.
