Children build a healthy competitive mindset during basketball lessons as they’re led through vigorous games and drills. Fundamental basketball skills, such as ball handling, passing, dribbling, and shooting, are taught in every program. We also list programs dedicated to specific skills like shooting. Kids as young as 4 can enrol in programs and refine basic skills. In more intermediate levels, strategic and defensive playing techniques are introduced.
Multidisciplinary programs are also included above, if kids wish to improve their athleticism in more than one sport. Soccer, tennis, and biking activities are common in these programs, as well as more adventurous activities.
Basketball programs offer a highly social environment. Learning teamwork and sportsmanship is important to kids’ success. Children learn to communicate helpfully with their peers and support one another to play their best to win games. Private and public coaching are available, with many programs led by trained professionals. Public lessons are typically less expensive, starting at $25 per lesson, while private lessons’ cost can rise to $150. Most camps are coeducational, however, a few are available to young girls only.
In some advanced basketball lessons, guest coaches and former NBA players help prepare kids for intervarsity basketball. These programs help kids uncover their potential, and kids get to play against other advanced players. Teens with professional aspirations receive training that will increase their chances of basketball scholarships and perhaps even a professional career.
After-school basketball lessons generate smart, skilled players. Here’s a look at some of the direct and indirect benefits of basketball lessons listed above:
