Little performers reach pre-professional levels of acting and performance at theatre arts classes. Ranging in genres from classic to contemporary to musical theatre, theatre programs immerse your child in high quality drama training to prepare them for future roles and auditions. Kids and teens develop their basic theatre knowledge, including the parts of the stage, beginner character studies, and stage decorum.
Programs also teach oral performance skills, such as enunciation, tone, and projection, advanced character study, scriptwriting, and audition techniques. Some intermediate classes even introduce acting for television and film, which requires a set of skills different from acting on the stage.
Final performances are typically held at the end of the program’s run, showcasing your child’s budding talents on stage. These final showcases include Sketches, plays, and musical theatre performances. Classes are available for children as young as 4 years old. Younger students begin with basic training while teenagers typically perform more elaborate productions. Prices for these camps begin at $20, and are purchasable per week.
At some advanced theatre arts programs, singing and dancing are integrated into the curriculum. With musical theatre in the mix, your son or daughter learns dance and vocal techniques. While acting, singing, and dancing together may seem overwhelming, many of the best actors in the world are indeed a “triple threat.”
Advanced theatre arts for older kids and teens encourages their overall growth. Kids and teens develop their acting and performance skills whilst having fun and making new friends. Students often perform as a group, as well.
Where else are kids and teens going to feel supported and imaginative than at theatre arts classes? Here are a few things your child may experience during class:
