Our new online public speaking program is for students that are currently in Grades 2 to 8.

Classes commence on Wednesday, July 10, 2023. They will be held twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays) from 6:00pm to 7:30pm for 7 weeks (14 sessions). There is a maximum of 12 students in a class and the virtual classes will be delivered using the Zoom Platform and Google Classroom. The students will receive binders by mail with the weekly notes and worksheets included therein. There is approximately 1/2 hour of homework assigned each class.

At Power of Words, we recognize that oral communication skills are fundamental to student participation in any learning environment. In addition to designing this course specifically focused on public speaking where students will write and present their own speeches in a mock setting, we have incorporated learning activities throughout the curriculum with the goal of building confident and powerful speakers.

This course is designed to boost your child's self-esteem and confidence. It focuses on building the student’s presentation strategies, effectively using vocal skills (including tone, pitch, volume and pace), incorporating non-verbal cues (including facial impressions, gestures and eye contact) and communicating orally in a clear and coherent manner.
