Who are youth empowerment camps for and what programs do they have?

Youth empowerment camps, also called “social justice camps,” are primarily intended for teens. Many, though, are also open to preteens.

These camps are a great option for kids who want to expand their horizons, build confidence, and connect with a like-minded community. Kids who are passionate about social issues and want to make a difference in the world are an especially good fit.

Youth empowerment summer camps and programs offer training, exercises, and activities related to social justice. Your child will learn about a wide range of local and global issues:

  • Poverty and homelessness
  • The environment and climate change
  • Racism and bigotry
  • Bullying
  • Gay rights
  • Sexuality
  • Animal cruelty
  • Gun control
  • Culture
  • Religion

But there’s more to these camps than social activism and education. Youth empowerment camps also have a variety of fun activities that you’ll find at other camps and programs. This includes campfires, swimmingthe artsmusicdancesports, and more.

Many youth empowerment and social justice camps are residential. Some, though, are day programs.

At a youth empowerment and social justice camp your child will learn crucial skills. Some of the main ones include

This will serve your child well in the future, and help them excel in the teen years and beyond. They’ll learn important values, build confidence, and learn how to make a difference.
