Camp Tournesol is a summer camp that focuses on fun, while meeting campers where they are in their French proficiency – from just beginning, to fully fluent. We’re here to foster a lifelong love of the language, while having an amazing time at summer camp!
Amazing Themes Each Week
Summer camp 2026 features 4 themes, each running twice:
Minecraft: Clan Adventures: July 6-10 & Aug 4-7 - Journey through a week inspired by the beloved game — but with a French-language twist. Blending creative, hands-on activities, outdoor challenges, storytelling, and daily Minecraft clan competitions – campers are engaged from start to finish.
LEGO Discoverers: July 13-17 & Aug 10-14 - Designed for campers who love to build, invent, and explore, this week blends imaginative LEGO challenges, problem-solving missions, friendly team competitions, and French language learning that unfolds naturally throughout the day.
Minecraft Crafting and Creativity: July 20-24 & Aug 17-21- Step into an epic Minecraft-inspired journey where every day brings a new adventure, a new challenge, and a new quest to solve. Campers explore biomes, decode secret messages, build creations, complete team missions, and more!
LEGO Inventors: July 27-31 & Aug 24-28 - In this exciting week, campers bring their imaginations to life through hands-on engineering challenges, problem-solving missions, and inventive LEGO builds. It’s packed with experiments, collaboration and creativity!
Ages 4-13, Divided in 2 Streams
At Camp Tournesol, we work to nurture a lifelong love of French, no matter where your camper is in their French language journey! You have the option to register your camper in one of two streams:
French Foundations: Is your camper not in a French immersion program and/or you don’t speak French at home, but you still want them to build vocabulary and skills? Even a complete beginning to the language? Foundations is for them!
French Mastery: If your camper is in a French immersion program or you speak French at home, and you’d like them to build fluency and proficiency, our Mastery stream is the perfect choice.
Unique, Inclusive Approach
We are driven to create a summer camp experience for all campers that is defined by:
- Inclusion: Children of all backgrounds and French abilities are welcome and celebrated at Camp Tournesol.
- Fostering a Lifelong Love of French: What a joy to be able to speak another language! We work to show how fun this special and valuable skill really is.
- Leaving Better Than You Came: We help all campers improve upon whatever French abilities they joined us with, wherever they start.
- Offering Challenge Without Frustration: We encourage French learning and proficiency, but are mindful of avoiding frustration in the process.
- Speaking French: We incorporate French as much as we can, letting fun lead the way.
- Having Fun: Learning is play at Camp Tournesol! This is summer break after all, and we want campers to enjoy themselves.
Fun Activities
Every single activity campers do at Camp Tournesol, no matter which stream they are in, puts them in a different vocabulary and situational context. They learn new, practical French words related to what they’re about to do, and then spend time using those words in conversation. At the end of the activity, at the end of the day, and at the end of the week, we review those words in ways that just feel like fun and chatting – and never like school!
