    What does space camp teach?

Space camp satisfies the young mind curious about exploring our solar system and beyond. Children research planets, moons, stars, black holes, asteroids, and more, increasing their knowledge of our very own galaxy. In some more advanced programs, children discuss complex space concepts such as light and dimension.

The activities presented during space camp are perfect for children interested in physics, math, astronomy, and related coding concepts. Camps cover all disciplines through various activities, including rocket programming and construction. Multidisciplinary camps and programs offer space activities amongst STEAM, coding, robotics, math, and engineering activities.

In all camps, children use space exploration of the past to inspire their future as astronomers, astronauts, or physicists. These specialised day camps vary in duration, some merely running for a single day, while others can run for approximately 4 to 12 weeks. Prices for camps start at $200 and can go up to $500 depending on each camps’ location and curriculum. Camps are co-educational and emphasize the inclusion of young girls.

Consult with individual programs listed above to learn what they teach.

    Choosing the right space camp

As you browse through each space camp offered, you’ll notice a divide between beginner and intermediate programs. Beginner programs educate children on the critical and basic concepts of space exploration, where they learn about planets, the solar system, gravity, etc. In intermediate programs, children dive deeper into the science behind certain space phenomena.

Subjects such as physics, math, and astronomy are discussed in intermediate and advanced programs, as children conduct research and experiments with their instructors and peers. These camps are often targeted at aspiring physicists, astronomers, or astronauts. Age requirements are typically higher in these programs and, in some cases, some basic knowledge is required before enrollment. Both beginner and intermediate courses include a combination of hands-on and space theory education. Check out each listing above to make sure your son or daughter meets the requirements for enrollment.

    Why go to space camp?

Space camp improves children's wellbeing academically and socially. Here are some things you child might find at space camp:

    • Inspires career ideas. Space camp covers all aspects of space exploration including coding, astrophysics, and astronomy, helping children find where they excel. This inspires them to pursue careers in space exploration or related fields.
    • Kids frequently make connections with others in space camp. Children receive support from peers and instructors with similar interests in space exploration. Camp is a great starting point for friendships.
    • Inclusivity. Space camp promotes the inclusion of diverse people, regardless of one’s gender, orientation, or ethnicity.

Camps improve children’s academic performance in science and math. Children witness real-life applications of both subjects through coding activities and experiments. Problem solving is common in space camp, helping children approach math and science courses with positivity and confidence.
