Irish dance has a long history of group and solo dances - this camp will introduce elements of both.  Our morning will begin with rhythm and brain-based warm-ups.  We will learn the basics of an Irish brush dance and share in a ceili (group) dance.  We want to inspire campers and ignite a love for movement, music, and self-expression.  Throughout the day, we will do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to engage campers in a day of fun and creativity.  Campers will gain coordination, rhythm, and confidence. For the remainder of the day, children will do a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to engage campers in a day of fun and creativity. No previous dance experience necessary.


Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Creativity: Creativity belongs everywhere - especially in dance. Campers will experience the joy of creating dance steps that reflect their own style. Taking these small steps in creativity will help campers to find their own voice in all areas of their lives.
  • Courage: Dance is a powerful tool in the development of positive self-image and nurtures the development of healthy self-identities. Campers will try new things and make their own choices; learning to trust their creative instincts.

Campers will learn the Irish brush dance.
The day will be rooted in rhythm and creativity. Campers will learn the brush dance and build a kaleidoscope.
