International Summer Camp in France – Megève | Ages 6–17
Imagine a summer in the French Alps where children and teenagers from around the world learn together, explore the mountains, try new activities and create international friendships.
Located in Megève, in the French Alps and approximately one hour from Geneva, The International Language Camps welcomes children and teens ages 6–17 for an international residential summer experience combining language learning, Alpine adventure, sports, cultural discovery and personal development.
Established in 1996, ILC has developed a deliberately small-scale approach. With around 40 campers per week and approximately one adult for every five campers, children enjoy the excitement of an international summer camp while remaining part of a community where they can be personally known and supported.
Languages Are Part of the Experience
Language learning is at the heart of ILC, but our philosophy goes beyond traditional classroom teaching: you don't just learn a language – you live it.
Campers can develop their English or French through interactive lessons focused on communication and practical use. Language classes are limited to eight students and organised according to level, allowing every camper to participate and build confidence.
Learning then continues naturally throughout camp life as children communicate, take part in activities, explore the region and build friendships with young people from different countries.
Three Programs, Three Age-Appropriate Experiences
Rather than offering the same experience to every camper, ILC provides three programs designed around different ages and stages of development.
FUN Program – Ages 6–9
A welcoming introduction to international camp life for younger children, including those experiencing their first residential stay away from home. Language learning is combined with age-appropriate sports, creative activities, Alpine discovery and plenty of opportunities to make new friends.
ADRENALINE Program – Ages 10–13
Designed for children ready for greater adventure and new challenges. Campers combine language learning with sports, outdoor activities and Alpine experiences while developing confidence, teamwork and increasing independence.
TEENS MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE – Ages 14–17
A dedicated program for teenagers seeking adventure, international friendships and greater independence. Mountain experiences and language learning are combined with opportunities to develop decision-making, communication, teamwork, initiative and leadership.
A Summer of Alpine Adventure
Megève and the surrounding French Alps become part of the camp experience.
Depending on age, the weekly program and conditions, campers can take part in a variety of sports, outdoor adventures, mountain experiences, cultural discoveries and creative activities.
The objective is not simply to keep campers busy. Activities give them opportunities to try something new, overcome challenges, cooperate with others and discover what they are capable of.
For campers staying two weeks or more, Sunday excursions may also provide opportunities to discover destinations such as Chamonix, the Mer de Glace, the Aiguille du Midi, Annecy and other Alpine locations.
A Typical Day at ILC
Morning:
Interactive English or French language lessons in small groups of no more than eight students, with an emphasis on communication and participation.
Afternoon:
Sports, Alpine adventures, outdoor activities, cultural discoveries and creative experiences adapted to each age group.
Evening:
Residential campers come together for supervised social activities, games, entertainment and time with their international friends.
Each day is designed to balance learning, adventure, social interaction and opportunities for campers to become increasingly independent.
Premium Hotel Accommodation in Central Megève
The residential experience is one of the distinctive features of ILC.
Rather than accommodating campers in traditional summer camp dormitories, residential campers stay at Hôtel Au Vieux Moulin, a high-quality hotel in the centre of Megève.
After a day filled with languages, sports and Alpine adventures, campers return to a comfortable hotel environment where they can relax, recharge and spend time with their friends.
ILC staff are present at the hotel day and night, ensuring continuity of supervision throughout the stay.
This combination offers families a distinctive residential experience: the friendships, adventure and growing independence of an international summer camp combined with the comfort of quality hotel accommodation and attentive supervision.
Small Camp, International Community
ILC intentionally welcomes around 40 campers per week.
Our approximately 1:5 staff-to-camper ratio, combined with small language classes, allows our team to provide personal attention while creating a genuinely international environment.
Campers meet young people from different countries and cultures. They learn to communicate, share experiences, work together and become more comfortable outside their usual environment.
For younger children, this can mean taking their first steps towards independence. For older campers, it can mean greater responsibility, decision-making and confidence.
More Than a Summer Camp in France
An ILC summer is about much more than languages or activities.
It is an opportunity to experience life in the French Alps, become more independent, communicate across cultures, take on new challenges and create friendships with young people from around the world.
With three age-specific programs, small groups, approximately one adult for every five campers, language classes limited to eight students and high-quality hotel accommodation in the heart of Megève, The International Language Camps offers a personal approach to the international summer camp experience.
Families can choose stays from one to five weeks.
