Kids and teens in First Aid courses learn to protect the safety of others. Life saving courses teach your son or daughter how to treat injuries and make quick judgements. Bronze Cross, Medallion or lifeguard training, teach aquatic life saving techniques. Both beginner and advanced courses build children’s responsibility and judgement skills.
Each First Aid course includes hands-on instruction with mannequins, defibrillators, and other professional equipment. Those in lifeguard training use rescue boards, inner tubes, buoys, and more during training. In some cases, First Aid training is nested within a wider curriculum that focuses on activities within STEM or medical science disciplines, among others.
First Aid courses are available to kids ages 13+, as most life saving courses require a minimum age for participation. Drills and simulations are conducted within the 20+ hours of each course. Prices for these courses range from as low as $84 up to $430. The more costly courses offer certification in more than one area of First Aid and are a great option for advanced lifesavers. Courses are coeducational. Children learn to rescue and perform injury care in diverse cases.
Advanced First Aid training covers multiple levels of certification. Students learn standard First Aid components including injury identification, care, and prevention, as well as advanced lifeguard or life saving skills. Bronze Cross or Medallion training is provided, with a focus on aquatic rescue and risk prevention in and around the water. Drills and simulations test participants’ knowledge, skill, fitness, and judgment levels. Training in CPR-C is most commonly offered.
Certain requirements are necessary for eligibility within advanced courses. For example, Bronze Cross training is not attainable without previous certification in Bronze Medallion training. Click on listings above to learn more about the requirements for each course.
First aid courses include professional instruction that cultivates strong and mature leaders. Some benefits of these courses include:
Having First Aid skills brings teens’ maturity to a new level. In some cases, courses give kids a pathway to become a lifesaving instructor themselves! In any course, students leave prepared to save lives and make a difference. Browse through each of our First Aid courses listed above to locate the best option for your child.
