At baseball lessons, your child’s physical health is improved through games, competitions, and tournaments. Baseball programs begin with the rules of the game. Through instruction and practice, your child gets better, learning the different bases and positions, how to hold a bat, and to throw better. Warm-ups, drills, and games practice children’s hitting, pitching, baserunning, and catching.
In your research, you’ll have your pick between competitive and recreational baseball lessons. In the former, more intensive training helps grow skills. Kids are divided by age and gender in these programs, similar to professional teams. Recreational programs offer more freedom, allowing kids to try out all positions.
Your child builds a love of baseball at these programs, led by trained coaches. Equipment like bats, baseballs, uniforms, shoes, and gloves is provided by the program, though some require kids to bring their own equipment to class. Costs for these lessons vary, though most average around $200.
At more advanced baseball programs, your child’s strengths on and off the field are explored. Kids and teens have opportunities to try out all positions such as infielder, outfielder, catcher, and pitcher. They find where their strengths lie. Kids also learn to become better team players. Kids and teens learn how to give and receive feedback to teammates, empower fellow players, and develop good sportsmanship. This builds a healthy, competitive spirit within them that helps them become mature athletes, applicable to other sports like basketball, soccer, or hockey.
Baseball classes test kids and teens’ strengths and fitness levels by immersing them in the sport. Here are some things your child might find in their class:
