Through Towards Ahimsa Secondary School (TASS), a program developed by members of the VegCamp team, campers in Grades 10–12 can earn an Ontario high school credit while enjoying an immersive camp experience.

Courses, taught by Ontario-certified teachers, run synchronously online from July 5 to August 7. Campers attending Veg Camp have the option to attend in-person classes during camp! Students combine classroom learning with hands-on projects, outdoor exploration, and collaborative challenges, engaging deeply with the curriculum while developing leadership, critical thinking, creativity, and interpersonal skills in a supportive and inspiring community.

TASS courses follow the Ontario curriculum but are taught through the lens of Ahimsameaning nonviolence, compassion, respect, and responsibility for Earth, animals, and ourselves. Through this lens, students explore social justice, animal rights, environmental sustainability, and community leadership, connecting academic learning to real-world issues and personal values.

Learning at TASS is experiential and student-led. Hands-on projects, field trips, and interactive workshops build practical skills while encouraging curiosity, agency, and responsibility. Students co-create learning experiences, drive discussions, and take on leadership roles, all supported by dedicated teachers and mentors. Alongside academic growth, campers form lasting friendships, strengthen community connections, and grow personally through the adventures, teamwork, and challenges of camp life.

Courses offered this summer include:

Gr. 12: Recreation & Healthy Active Living Leadership (PLF4M) This course is open to students entering Grade 12 and can be used toward university or college applications.

Gr. 11: Leadership & Peer Support (GPP3O) High course is open to students entering Grade 10 and 11.

By the end of the program, campers leave not only with a high school credit but also with increased confidence, resilience, and the skills and mindset to thrive as compassionate, thoughtful leaders in their schools, communities, and beyond.

Register for Veg Camp and add on the Credit Program. Learn more at: www.towardsahimsa.ca

Note:  Students may also register for credit courses with Towards Ahimsa Secondary School as synchronous online courses, combined with in-person field trips and workshops, without attending Veg Camp.
