About this camp

Camp UofT Scarborough

Camp U of T Scarborough is an 8wk summer day camp that provides flexible weekly registration for children ages 6-12. The camp provides a mini-university experience in science, computers, dance-fit, drama, fine arts/crafts on a rotation schedule. In addition, the camp offers a 2wk Leadership certificate programs for teens 13-16yrs.

The Our Kids review of Camp UofT Scarborough

Camp U of T Scarborough hosts leadership training programs that bring closer to home something that is more common in overnight settings, providing an opportunity for young people to grow into new roles, new responsibilities, and a new appreciation of the skills and talents that they personally can contribute to a group environment. The afternoon programs—including academic topics cast in playful light—are run as mini-University sessions, giving kids a sense of what university academic life is like. In all of that and more, there’s a lot to love, both for parents and kids. These are some the best, and best run, day programs in the region.

It was fabulous! I thought it was well run, the counsellors were amazing with my two boys, there was a good balance between the morning and afternoon sessions.

Loved the experience. Would love to have a Level 2 Leadership camp that builds on the skills learned during the current Leadership camp. The activities were excellent and the outings and experiences were really meaningful. My son really enjoyed the camp and came how talking about what he was learning and doing. He only does that if it was exceptional. The leadership skills were really good and he came away with new ideas and skills.

The camper liked the experience (first time, age 7). He had favourite counsellors as well, and they all seemed engaging and enthusiastic. The camper had hoped to have made more friends during the week, and that was his only disappointment. But his relationships with the counsellors made up for that.

My daughter loved the leadership program, she made new friends, prepared her resume and attended a mock interview. The program was great. Apart from the Leadership program, there is a lack of programs for the high-school kids. We can have a program regarding the UTSC programs and leading the kids into Career path. I believe lots of kids will benefit from this, and I will definitely send my child to attend. This will help promoting UTSC as well as helping a child who is not sure what they want to do.

My son has always enjoyed his time at UTSC camps. He loves connecting with the counsellors each year and always has fun stories at the end of the day.

They had wonderful time I can’t imagine a change for the better except maybe to offer the French for the Tennis as well as the all sports.

June 2019

Dear Campers and Youth,

We are super excited to welcome you all to the 2019 edition of Camp U of T Scarborough!

Summer is almost here! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the clock is ticking towards another amazing eight weeks at camp. We are both eager to see familiar faces, and can’t wait to meet all of you who are new to camp this year. The 2019 team has been working hard to deliver incredible programming that you can all enjoy and learn from. This is going to be a summer for the books!

This year, we have a great assortment of returning and new staff, with familiar faces including Shaggy, Bonhomme, Vert, Ozzy, Spike and many more! They have all been working hard to plan fun games and activities for you to enjoy. Your favorite programs are all back — Tennis, Arts & Crafts, Computers, Dance-Fit, Drama, Fine Arts, and Kid’s Science. We are also excited to announce our new extra-special morning program option — our themed camp weeks, where campers have the opportunity to expand their knowledge in a variety of fun and educational activities such as Cooking and Math with Lego to highlight a few. Finally, we can’t wait for more rounds of Capture-the-Flag, Ninja, Predator and Prey, as well as returning camp classics such as Games Week, Friday Special Events, the Talent Show and Pudding Dunk!

Our Leaders-in-Training (LIT) Program is as strong as ever this year; we are so excited to see youth that are ready to develop the skills needed to become amazing leaders. The 2-week LIT certificate programs are open to ages 13-16. Youth that participate in these programs will attend a variety of skill-building workshops, have the opportunity to job shadow with Camp Counsellors, learn to build their own cover letter and resume and put their leadership abilities to the test by occasionally leading a program or special event for campers aged 6-12. During each two week program, teens will enjoy time at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre pool, an overnight camping at the Toronto Zoo, conquer rock-climbing at Joe Rockhead’s and practice their equestrian skills at Ajax Riding Academy

We look forward to building incredible new memories this summer at Camp U of T Scarborough!

Enjoy the last few weeks of school, and see you soon,

Philippe Leclerc (aka Young Spice)

Camp Director

Kerise O’Neil-Cole (aka Chef)

Assistant Camp Director
