About this Camp

Toronto Kidz

We offer a wide range of camps for children 5-12. Our KIDZ CAMP for 5-10 year-olds follows a weekly theme - Pirates, Underwater World, Dinosaurs, Animals, etc. Weekly field trips take us to Toronto's main attractions such as Ripley's Aquarium, the ROM, Toronto Zoo, a Pirate Cruise, etc. Our days are active and fun with a variety of indoor and outdoor activities.

Our JUNIOR CAMP for campers 8-12 years offers a different focus each week such as Science, Gemania, Leadership, Healthy living, Outdoors and Arts. When we are not learning about the specific topic, we spend time outdoors in parks and on field trips, do arts & crafts, play games, etc.

The Our Kids review of Toronto Kidz

Brigitte Gallegos, founder and director of Toronto Kidz Summer Camp created the camp to make the most of what the city has to offer. She wanted to allow kids to explore areas of their city, and to let experience the full range of what it has to offer. The programs—a series of weekly day camp sessions offered throughout the summer months—have been designed to access those possibilities. Each session is built around a specific theme, and the entire city is a programming resource: Pirates Week includes a cruise around Centre Island; Animals and Nature Week includes a trip to High Park Nature Centre; Pokémon Week includes a visit to Fort York. It is run out of a space within the St. Martin-in-the-Fields church, just north of High Park and in the heart of one of the city’s most varied urban communities. The location, in any way you care to look at it, has a lot to offer. There are private green spaces and a wealth of indoor activity space, all of it providing a welcome break from the bustle of the city. Each day at camp includes crafts and drawing, and stimulation with music and dance. The course of each day includes all of that, from running games in the park, to sitting quietly to record the day’s events in a journal.

The 2021 Experience at Toronto Kidz

While we prepare for our in-person summer camp in 2021, we continue monitoring the situation in Ontario and following guidelines provided by the Provincial Government and Public Health.

We are very grateful that we successfully ran our in-person camp for 7 weeks in 2020. While we adhered to all guidelines provided by Public Health, campers spent valuable time with peers and camp counselors and had a blast.

We are currently accepting registrations at two camp locations with only a 50% deposit requirement. Furthermore, all camp fees are fully refundable until March 31st, 2021. With these new policies, we hope to provide peace of mind for our camp families while securing their summer camp spots early.

Reviews & Testimonials

My son had a blast at this camp...
Jessica — Parent

My son had a blast at this camp. He came home everyday feeling happy with a wonderful craft to share and tell us about. (He's usually very close-lipped about his days so this was a welcome surprise!) Brigitte and her staff create a safe, organized space for kids to play and learn within. You can tell that they love kids and are skilled at programming that is developmentally-appropriate and fun. Highly recommended.

Wonderful camp. My son absolutely loved it.

The director has been extremely accommodating and informative.
Curtis — Parent

Second week in and so far so good. The director has been extremely accommodating and informative. The days are very structured but not rigid and they do have flexibility depending on weather and children’s mood. They have great visitors and weekly adventure trips. Our daughter is coming home daily with lots to talk about and crafts she’s created. I think overall it’s a great camp and the smile and excitement from our daughter backs that up!

Excellent staff!

Excellent staff ! My son loved it and wants to go back!

We highly recommend Toronto Kidz
Elissa — Parent

We have had a wonderful time with Toronto Kidz through their in-person summer camps and their weeknight virtual art workshops. Last summer our daughter Vivienne loved the weekly themed camps, and thrived in the environment which offered a safe, clean and socially distanced space for kids. There was a comprehensive schedule of various activities appropriate for her age ( 5 1/2 years). At camp Vivienne found a true passion for arts and crafts and was thrilled with the outdoor adventures that they went on. We highly recommend Toronto Kidz, and really appreciate their reasonable costs and the various programming that they offer.

You set the bar high!

Sadly we won’t be able to attend anymore as we’re moving... But I wanted to thank you for such lovely camp experiences over the years. You set the bar high!

Absolutely LOVED this summer camp last year
Melissa — Parent

“Absolutely LOVED this summer camp last year and so did my son! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my daughter is going to be able to experience it as well this summer. Brigitte and her team are simply spectacular. They go above and beyond in the programming and quality of the arts & crafts and the kids have a blast…”

My girls had an amazing time
Michelle — Parent

"... I wanted to thank you and your staff. My girls had an amazing time. They were very nervous about starting the week and knowing no one. By the end of the first day they were asking if they could come back next Summer and going on and on about camp. By the end of the week they were asking if we could move to Toronto part time. Thank you again for offering a wonderful camp and embracing my kids."

my son told me he LOVES Toronto Kidz
Nicky — Parent

“I just wanted to share that my son told me he LOVES Toronto Kidz camp, after his first day today. He says it’s the best camp he’s been to so far…Sending a quick note to say thank you for all that you and your team do.”

Director's Message

Brigitte Gallegos, Director

We are passionate about the urban family life in Toronto and raising kids in this versatile city. We believe that living here offers children the opportunity to grow into independent, open minded and global citizens. With TORONTO KIDZ we want to offer families in Toronto children services that are accessible, affordable and a lot of fun! Our summer camp is the first one of many services that we’ll offer to support busy families in Toronto.

Brigitte, the Camp Director has always been passionate about kids and how to raise a caring child who goes through life seeing its endless possibilities. Working in the travel industry with Youth trips and lately for WE, a charity that empowers youth to change the world, she has witnessed how interested and caring the next generation is. With TORONTO KIDZ, she hopes to contribute to raising the next generation in a meaningful way.

Stories

Exploring the city with Toronto Kidz

“It’s such a great city for kids,” says Brigitte Gallegos, founder and director of Toronto Kidz Summer Camp. Certainly, she created the camp for precisely that reason: to make the most of what the city has to offer. She wanted to allow kids to explore areas of their city, “to let them see that there are so many possibilities, so many things that they can explore and do.”

Finding a balance

It’s as much about getting out and seeing the world as it is about making connections between communities, ideas, and people. Gallegos comes to all of that honestly, having worked as a travel director for adult and youth groups, most recently as part of the Me To We staff.

Toronto Kidz is run out of a space within the St. Martin-in-the-Fields church, just north of High Park and in the heart of one of the city’s most varied urban communities. The location, in any way you care to look at it, has a lot to offer. There are private green spaces and a wealth of indoor activity space, all of it providing a welcome break from the bustle of the city.

Though, of course, the bustle is good too. “We know how great urban life can be for families.” For Gallegos, it’s about finding the right balance. “There’s a balance between being active outdoors and indoors,” as well as that between fine and gross motor skills. Each day at camp includes crafts and drawing, and stimulation with music and dance. The course of each day includes all of that, from running games in the park, to sitting quietly to record the day’s events in a journal.

In all, each day at Toronto Kidz is a pretty good day. Learning, growing, and building on personal strengths. “I like the way that children explore the world,” says Gallegos, “and I want to help them do that. It’s so nice to see kids be passionate about something.” She’s right of course. It really is.
