Bronze Medallion Course & Emergency First Aid (EFA)

Prerequisite

Minimum 13 years of age or Bronze Star certification. (need not be current), Swimming skills to aLSS Swim 6 or Seal Star 9  equivalent.

Candidate Recognition

Bronze Medallion award crest, medal and certification card (valid 24 months).

Materials

The Canadian Lifesaving Manual, a pocket mask, and training first aid kit are included with course registration


Bronze Medallion Course

• Focuses on mental and physical challenges.
• Emphasizes judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness.
• Teaches assessment and problem-solving skills for water safety.
• Covers various rescue techniques for conscious and unconscious victims.
• Includes a 400-meter timed swim in under 12 minutes.
• Requires a Love to Swim 10 level or equivalent swimming proficiency.
• Serves as a prerequisite for the Bronze Cross award.

Emergency First Aid Certification

• Provides general knowledge of first aid principles.
• Aims to increase confidence in managing emergency situations.
• Focuses on common injuries and shock management.
• Covers recognition and response to cardiovascular emergencies including CPR, Choking, Heart Attack, Stroke, and External Bleeding for all ages.
• Serves as a prerequisite for the Bronze Cross award
