The Our Kids review of Saddlewood Riding Camp

A unique equestrian program for girls only, Saddlewood is said to be a dream come true for those who love horses. Over 55 years later, the family-run camp’s herd consists of over 120 horses and ponies. Continuing a legacy started by their mother, owners Heather and Kim Smith are both teachers during the day, and run the camp by name. It’s all about providing the best camp experience at Saddlewood, and there’s more to it than just horse riding and care. The food is homemade and exceptional, the barn is well organized and clean, and the courses, fields, and rings are challenging yet scenic. Almost all of the staff here are former campers, so there is a family-like atmosphere, where new people are welcomed and seasoned campers and staff are always greeted with a knowing smile. Archery, arts and crafts, sports, and even theatre round out the activities at Saddlewood for a great day at camp.
