What kids learn in a Robox camp

The camp setting allows kids to learn from teachers and work with others their own age. It’s a social setting centered around an activity everyone there loves. Camps teach the fundamentals of scripting in Lua, and programming basics like loops, functions, and conditional statements.

Kids also learn aspects of the game design process. Roblox’s terrain building aspect also lets them play with design. They might even learn ways to get more Robux faster!

Not every camp has the same curriculum, so consult with programs above to learn the specifics of what they teach. Aside from the actual curriculum, camp teaches many soft skills, starting with social skills. They also learn to persevere through problems they encounter with coding and building. There’s certainly a creative element to working with Roblox, so they also develop that aspect of themselves. There are many more ways that <a>camps help kids mature faster.

Roblox: a stepping stone to bigger things

Kids who work with Roblox will like many other camp types. Kids this age might like Scratch camps or Minecraft camps, for example. All of these platforms can lead them onto camps teaching more sophisticated coding and technology, including robotics camps and Python camps. There are also camps that take an integrated approach to technology like both STEM camps and STEAM camps

How to find the best camp

Reach out to multiple options through the links above or by attending the Toronto camp expo, held every February. It’s best to meet camp leaders face-to-face (which you can do there, easily) and ask all the questions you can think of.

Whether you are contacting them through forms linked to above, or at the expo, here are some things to consider when you investigate camps:

    • Compare their curricula to find a camp with programming suited to your child’s age and interests.
    • Find out about the breakdown of activities and how much time is given to each activity.
    • Ask about the instructor’s qualifications with regard to both coding and teaching children.
    • Ask about the facilities and equipment available to campers.
    • Find out about camp groupings, how large they are, and who will be running your child’s group.
    • Inquire about how much collaboration there is vs. individual work.
    • Ask about the end result or goal of the camp. What is the expected outcome?

If you give your child a great camp experience, it can have a positive impact on the rest of their lives.
