Continue developing sailing fundamentals in a fun and safe environment with CANSail certified instructors.

In our two-week CANSail 2 - Group Sailing Program there is an emphasis on fun, safety and fundamental skill acquisition. Participants in this program will sail in cohort groups of 3-4 sailors from the same "social circle" (siblings/friends). Perfect for participants who are socially motivated and want to sail with their friends! Campers in this program will sail together with their friends on NYC's fleet of larger multi-person RS Quest or Club 420 Dinghies.

In this program participants continue to develop their basic sailing skills through fun and interactive lessons. CANSail 1 level or equivalent experience required.

Our Sail Canada certified instructors teach participants the skills required to skipper their own boat, including:

  • Body Position & Boat Balance
  • Sail Trim, Steering and Boat Control
  • Basic Weather and Identifying Changes to Wind
  • Boat Safety
  • Rigging & Knot Tying
  • Sailing Terminology
  • And More!

Campers in this program work towards achieving their CANSail 2 sailing level, but our main goal is to get campers comfortable on the water and having fun in boats!

Character Development:

  • Interpersonal skills: Sailing together on a boat is a great test of teamwork. Effective communication and coordination are key to getting a boat to sail in the right direction. Participants will quickly learn that it’s not just the person who is steering the boat who controls where it goes – it’s all about teamwork!
  • Resilience: Sailing involves constant adaptation - to the direction of the wind, the push of the current and the course you're on. Sailors learn resilience in coping with and adapting to the ever-changing conditions they face on the water. No two days in a boat or in our program are the same!
