Watercolour Painting

This is a split-grade camp in which participants work in age-based groups within a shared studio environment. All campers will experiment with a wide range of watercolour painting techniques designed to build confidence and skill, culminating in a gallery-style exhibition that celebrates each camper’s work.

These introductory camps are ideal for beginners who have never picked up a brush, as well as for students looking to further develop and refine their watercolour and painting expertise. Participants will explore methods including wet-on-wet, flooding, dry brush, blooming, splattering, masking and a variety of texturing techniques to create expressive and abstract effects. Underdrawing and projection will also be used to support image transfer. Light tables, drawing boards and transfer paper will be available for campers interested in developing realistic imagery.

The Junior experience will focus on layering colour, creating backgrounds for stencils and exploring landscape and character painting. Senior students will choose their own imagery and develop ambitious, large-format portfolio pieces, an excellent opportunity for those who have taken this camp before. All paint, brushes, paper and studio supplies are provided.

Join us in a sunny artist’s studio where campers can spread out, experiment freely and discover the joy of painting. Campers are welcome to join both weeks to further hone their skills and build a dynamic portfolio!
