Entrepreneurship summer camps and after-school programs are an ideal destination for creative and passionate individuals. In entrepreneurship camps, kids and teens typically progress through the entire entrepreneurial process. Your child begins camp by generating new ideas for products or services they believe are useful for a specific audience. After this, kids and teens progress into designing business models, searching for funds, pitching ideas to investors, developing marketing strategies, setting business goals, and, finally, building prototypes of their inventions.
Over the course of camp, kids and teens gain negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Your child also develops stronger and more professional interpersonal skills as they practice conversing with business partners and investors. This teaches them how to stand out as emerging entrepreneurs who are engaging, friendly, and visibly passionate about their work.
Kids and teens solve real-world problems. They may have to rework their business models when new issues arise. Learning to adapt and solve real-world problems are critical skills taught in entrepreneurship summer camps and programs.
Some camps listed above are general entrepreneurship camps, while others have a more direct focus, such as international business and trade or tech entrepreneurship. In the former, children gain insight into international markets and business trends, as well as how global distribution works. At the latter, your child may participate in 3D design and coding activities to create their prototypes. Camps can help prepare young entrepreneurs for a future in business school. In fact, some entrepreneurship camps are offered through these schools at top universities. These camps will be structured based on business school curricula.
Prices for entrepreneurship camps typically begin around $500, though more intensive entrepreneurship summer camps may cost more.
At entrepreneurship camps, kids and teens embark on a pathway to success. Here are some related skills and benefits your child may gain from camp:
Many entrepreneurship camps are designed for middle school and high school students, though some introductory entrepreneurship camps for kids start as early as age 8 or 9. Programs are typically grouped by age so that projects and business concepts are appropriate for each level.
At entrepreneurship summer camps, students often design a business idea, build a simple prototype or business plan, and present their concept in a pitch presentation. Some camps also include mock investor panels or startup competitions.
No prior experience is required for most entrepreneurship camps. Programs usually begin with the basics of idea generation, problem solving, and market research before moving into more advanced business concepts.
