What do children learn in entrepreneurship camp?

Entrepreneurship camp is an ideal destination for creative and passionate individuals. At camp, kids and teens progress through the entire entrepreneurial process. Your child begins camp by generating new ideas for products or services they believe are useful for a specific audience. After this, kids and teens progress into designing business models, searching for funds, pitching ideas to investors, developing marketing strategies, setting business goals, and, finally, building prototypes of their inventions.

Over the course of camp, kids and teens gain negotiation, problem-solving, and decision making skills. Your child also develops stronger, and more professional, interpersonal skills, as they practice conversing with business partners and investors. This teaches them how to stand out as emerging entrepreneurs who are engaging, friendly, and visibly passionate about their work.

Kids and teens solve real-world problems. They may have to rework their business models when new issues arise. Becoming flexible in order to solve problems is a skill all entrepreneurs must have.

Some camps listed above are general entrepreneurship camps, while others have a more direct focus, such as international business and trade or tech entrepreneurship. In the former, children gain insight into international markets and business trends, as well as how global distribution works. At the latter, your child may participate in 3D design and coding activities to create their prototypes. Camps can help prepare young entrepreneurs for a future at business school. In fact, some entrepreneurship camps are offered through these schools at top universities. These camps will be structured based on business school curricula.

Prices for entrepreneurship camps begin at $500, though more intensive programs may cost more.

Why go to entrepreneurship camp?

At entrepreneurship camp, kids and teens embark on a pathway to success. Here are some related skills and benefits your child may gain from camp:

  • Independent and collaborative work. In a professional business, employees must have the skills to work independently and collaboratively. At camp, your child develops these skills by communicating with a team of fellow campers, as well as solving problems on their own and setting personal goals, etc.
  • Leadership training. Owning and running a business comes with the responsibility to manage others. During camp, kids and teens practice leading a team to success, and they develop leadership qualities.
  • Become organized. Kids and teens are expected to have goals and ideas organized in order to smoothly execute their business model. Organizational skills they develop in camp will translate to the academic and working worlds.
  • Networking. At entrepreneurship camp, kids and teens have the opportunity to market themselves, their work ethic, and their ideas. They learn from experienced entrepreneurs who can provide opportunities for children to kick start their careers.
