Kodiak Junior is a 1-week introductory program for 6 to 9 year-old campers. Whether or not these campers have a diagnosis of a learning disability, ADHD, or high-functioning ASD, most of them have never been to overnight camp before. This is their opportunity to sample many of the different activities and elements of life at Camp Kodiak.

We know that sending your youngster away to camp for the first time can be stressful. You want to ensure that they will be safe and they will be happy. Our mature, professional staff are trained to help make your son's transition into the world of overnight camp as smooth as possible. Counsellors provide around-the-clock supervision and live in the cabin with the campers.

Kodiak Junior campers benefit from our social skills program that our counsellors skillfully embed into every element of the day. From the moment she wakes up until the moment she goes to bed, your camper will be learning, developing and practising positive social skills.

Our comfortable cabins include electricity and a full bathroom with a shower.

Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Independence: For many campers, this is the first time that they have been away from home for more than one or two nights. Kodiak Junior campers develop their independence by learning strategies to help them take care of themselves and become a valuable member of their cabin team.
  • Responsibility: Kodiak Junior assists campers in developing their sense of responsibility -- to themselves, to others and to the world around them. Campers better understand the importance of taking responsibility for their words and actions, and being accountable to their cabin mates and counsellors.
