Swimming Lessons: Whale Levels 1 & 2

Whale Level 1
This beginner swimming level is designed for children ages 6 and up who are new to the water. The focus is on building comfort and confidence through fun, structured activities. Swimmers will learn to jump into the water with and without a lifejacket, open their eyes underwater, exhale, and hold their breath. Foundational skills such as floating, gliding, and kicking on both the front and back are introduced to help children develop proper movement in the water. Safety education is a key component, including understanding the importance of active supervision around water. By the end of Level 1, participants will complete a distance swim of 5 meters, setting the stage for future swimming success.

Whale Level 2
This level is designed for advanced beginners who are ready to build on their foundational skills and gain confidence in deeper water. Swimmers will practice jumping into deeper water and learn to fall sideways into the water while wearing a lifejacket, an important safety skill. Instruction includes front and back crawl arm movements, helping participants begin to develop stroke technique. Water safety remains a priority, with lessons reinforcing safe habits in and around aquatic environments. By the end of Level 2, swimmers will complete an endurance swim of 10 meters, demonstrating improved strength, coordination, and confidence in the water.
