What do you do differently or uniquely well?
"Based upon UCCC's annual camp satisfaction surveys, camp programs are best known for weekly trips and the friendships that campers enjoy each summer. UCCC Camps are special because of the focus camp staff have on building strong relationships with and between campers, each other, and with families. Camp programs are grounded in the organizational values of safety, trust, support, respect, and professionalism and strive to achieve the vision of "a smile on each child's face...every day." UCCC is proud of the continued loyalty of customers returning year after year and their recommendations to family and friends as well as the high satisfaction scores received at the end of the summer. "
Who are your staff and counsellors?
"UCCC has an Outdoor Education and Camp Coordinator responsible for supporting employees in their programming and training. All employees hold a valid Vulnerable Sector Check and Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification. All camp staff participate in camp training sessions.
Camp employees reflect their diverse communities and strive to create a fun, welcoming camp. Jr Camper ratio is 1 staff to 13 children with a max group size of 26 campers; Sr Camper ratio is 1 staff to 15 children and a max group size of 30 campers.
"
What do families need to know about registration?
"UCCC does not have a screening process as all are welcome in our camps. Registration for our programs is limited by our capacity. A wait list is maintained as needed. A registration request form is available on our website (uppercanadachildcare.com) camp page and is forwarded to the supervisor who will confirm available space and send the registration link and payment authorization. Registration is more detailed because UCCC camps operate in licensed child care environments. Full registration can be cancelled up to June 1. After June 1, any deposit made will be forfeited. Supporting camp information and calendars of events are provided to new registrants closer to camp start. "

One of the best perks of camp is making new lifelong friendships. Upper Canada Child Care (UCCC) Summer Camps is known for the friendships it fosters, along with their weekly day trips. What can be seen as a traditional day camp, UCCC is a little more than that. Kids enjoy all of the fun activities daily, but absolutely can’t wait for the trips they get to do. Some of the best ones have included Wet N’ Wild Waterpark, Tree Top Trekking, and going to beaches and parks. Staff are very friendly and encouraging of kids being social and making many new friends. They are creative and find innovative activities for kids to do, like woodworking or playing with hammers and nails. Smaller class sizes make it easier to supervise the kids and give them the most attention. Their facilities are top-notch at Upper Canada College, and the camps are indicative of the fact that they are run by UCC.

Summer camp is a great opportunity for children to freely explore, dive more deeply into what they love doing, and create lasting memories.
In my experience, adults who were fortunate to go to summer camp look back on those experiences with nostalgia and happiness. We remember the friendships we made, the songs we sang, the games we played, the trees we climbed and our days at the beach swimming in the hot afternoon sun. Camp wasn’t just a way to pass summer break; it was something I looked forward to each year, a place I belonged.
Since 1983, Upper Canada Child Care’s licensed day camps have been providing many of those opportunities to thousands of children.
UCCC camps strive to build positive relationships with our campers and create programming that reflects our campers’ interests. Much of the program takes place outdoors; we utilize local parks, green spaces, and splash pads whenever possible. We value all the benefits the outdoors provides. Our outdoor experiences may include large group games, building forts, scavenger hunts, art in the park and sports. In addition, we go on a weekly field trip to a variety of places including, beaches, conservation areas, and some major attractions in the GTA. These trips allow our campers to experience something new, seek adventure, and most importantly, have fun!
Come join us this summer!

We were so excited to open our first Forest School in September 2021. It has added so much to our knowledge about children and learning outdoors. Our Outdoor Education Coordinator and our Camp Coordinator are both Forest School Certified and have been running our Forest School Program at White Pines from the beginning. Their knowledge and its impact on our camp programs will be significant.
We have noticed through the pandemic, that being able to get outdoors has allowed more freedom and less stress caused by COVID-19 protocols. As a licensed care provider, who also provides camp programs our protocols are very stringent, so time outdoors has been and will continue to be very important in our programs.
Since September it has been our priority to bring our preschool classes and their educators to White Pines Forest School throughout the year to benefit both children and educators. Their adventures in varied weather/seasons foster outdoor education and its implementation in all of our programs.
We hope to see you outside!
