The 2021 Experience at Upper Canada Child Care Summer Camps

While the focus of our policies and procedures is establishing measures required to safely operate our programs, every effort is being made to provide welcoming and caring environments that are responsive to the social and emotional needs of the children in our care.

We encourage social distancing within programs by providing individual equipment/tools and elevated attention to personal hygiene such as hand washing. Our staff wear all required Personal Protective Equipment and masks are required for campers. UCCC implements daily health screening including temperature checks at our entrance. We have the Storypark App available for parents to view daily activities and to keep in touch with camp staff.

UCCC is continuing to adapt to the circumstances presented to us. This year we are planning on bringing back our weekly trips as part of our summer camp programming. These trips will be focused on outdoor spaces to continue to promote outdoor play and experiences while also maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our staff and children.

However, trips are tentative and are subject to change/cancellation as we will be following and responding to the guidance of Public Health. Therefore, the strength and creativity of our in-house programming will once again be paramount to the success of our camps. After seeing the ingenuity and creativity displayed last year, we have absolute confidence in the quality of the camp programs in our centres.

Reviews & Testimonials

Review: Saint Veronica Children's Centre Summer Camp
Paolo — Parent

Following the 2020 spring shut-down of the centre due to the Covid-19 outbreak, I enrolled my child into the SVCC Outdooor Summer Camp Program which was the first time that any of my children had ever been enrolled in an all-day, every-day summer activity. I initially had my concerns and reservations about my child’s re-entry into the building after such a layoff but Nicole and the Summer Camp Team were always personable, honest, lively and showed genuine concern for the well-being of my child and his social development. From the end of his very first day and his first “Outdoors in the Forest” experience my child always knew that he was safe and happy and I felt immeasurably relieved at the same time.

Review: Prince of Peace Children's Centre : Summer Camp
Stephen and Susan — Parent

We had such a good experience we decided to use Upper Canada for summer camp in 2014 for both our girls (at the time aged 3 and 5). The only issue we had was our girls no longer liked to stay at home and preferred camp! The summer camp is unreal with lots of activities and very cool trips. We then enrolled our eldest daughter Sekora in the after school program and when Selanne joined elementary school she also joined. Similar experience, both loved it. To the point that daddy would get upset sometimes during pick up when the girls did not want to leave.

Summer Camp Survey Feedback - Little Rouge Children's Centre
Anonymous — Parent

We have come to know and love the centre and providers. We were nervous that it would be a weirdly clinical experience for our kids (daycare and camp) due to COVID. However, the staff did a fantastic job of maintaining that warm, welcoming and truly loving experience we’ve come to know and love from little rouge. Our girls both love their providers and both have had excellent experiences that didn’t feel that much different from normal, which we really appreciate.

Reference Letter
Sandra — Parent

November 5, 2020 To whom it may concern, I am pleased to provide a reference letter in regards to Upper Canada Child Care. Both of my children are attending the before and after care programs at the centre located in St. Veronica and have attended their summer camps as well over the last few years. I have the utmost confidence in their program. The staff is so caring, friendly and well organized. Communication is great and the supervisors always respond to any of my queries in a timely manner. They have implemented the use of Storypark so I get to see pictures and read stories of what my kids participated in that day. Seeing my kids' smiles on their faces in those pictures is so nice. They have revamped their program over the years and have introduced a "nature" element in all of their programs. My kids attend the forest on a weekly basis and they truly enjoy that outdoor time which is very important, especially these days. I know that my children are safe and in great care. My kids truly do enjoy their time there and they have many fun activities planned for the kids all the time. I would highly recommend this child care centre to all families. Yours Truly, Sandra

My son loved being with the team this year despite restrictions. He loved the special crafts they created which I’m assuming was because of the smaller class sizes and manageability but he loves crafts and thought they were really interesting!

Summer Camp Survey Feedback - Willow Landing Children's Centre

He really loved all the experiments he got to do. The staff also went above and beyond to try to create fun things that the kids were interested in like making them detective badges and Pokémon cards. Ollie loved all the outdoor play and crafts too!

Dear Upper Canada Child Care Camp
Alicia Gallone — Parent

Thank you for a great summer! The staff were very friendly and communicated with me on a daily basis. When there was an event, I knew well in advance of what I needed to bring and what was planned. The trips the centre picked were fun. My daughter always came home excited and told me all kinds of things about what she did that day. I would bring my daughter again to the Summer Camp program at Upper Canada Child Care. Thank You. Alicia Gallone

Joseph Lucia, Camp Coordinator

Message from our Camp Coordinator

At UCCC camps, we are committed to providing your child a fun summer camp experience! Embracing the challenges that COVID-19 has presented, we have a renewed focus on outdoor programming. After careful planning and guidance from Public Health, we are intending to offer a weekly trip. While we are making every effort, all trips are tentative, could change, or be cancelled.

This summer we plan to visit many different outdoor locations such as conservation areas, where your child can experience nature and enjoy summer activities. Our supportive camp staff will offer a balance between organized and spontaneous activities, designed to spark curiosity and exploration.

We are confident that your child will enjoy an adventure-packed summer camp with Upper Canada Child Care!

Looking forward to seeing you at a UCCC Camp!

-Joseph Lucia
