Summer vacation is an opportunity for children to freely explore ideas, pursue interests, and have new experiences. Since 1983, Upper Canada Child Care's licensed day camps have been providing as many of those opportunities as possible!
During the school year, children are guided through a set curriculum, primarily indoors, and in a set learning environment. UCCC summer camp is an opportunity for children to explore spaces and activities according to their own interests and goals; to that end, our programs provide a balance of planned experiences and space for important self-directed pursuits.
All of our employees are well versed in pandemic protocols. Our employees are also experienced in delivering fun, and engaging programs, and have done so in challenging circumstances over the last two years.
Our camps are known for our weekly excursions to area beaches, conservation areas, and some major attractions in the GTA. These trips add weekly adventures and maybe a new experience for children. With 30+ camps, each trip schedule will be a bit different. We are excited to get back out there in 2022.
Another unique feature and an added convenience for families is that extended care is included in our camp fees. From 7:00 to 9:00 AM we offer quiet activities and a morning snack. The camp program itself begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 4:00 PM. After 4:00 PM we have an afternoon snack and campers wind down from their busy day with free play and child-directed activities until 6:00 PM. Families have the flexibility to decide what schedule best suits their child and family.
We also add value to families by providing a complimentary pizza lunch to campers once per week, giving a much-needed break from packing lunchboxes.
During camp hours, we prefer to do as many activities outdoors as possible by taking advantage of the surroundings in our communities, such as: green spaces, local parks and splash pads, maybe a visit to the local fire station, in addition to our weekly trips. We like to be busy and active. Activities may include sports, geocaching, scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, water balloon toss, or a game of capture the flag.
Our programs are focused on having fun as a group, enjoying the freedom summer vacation provides, and being outdoors. Join us, it’s going to be a great summer!

We were so excited to open our first Forest School in September 2021. It has added so much to our knowledge about children and learning outdoors. Our Outdoor Education Coordinator and our Camp Coordinator are both Forest School Certified and have been running our Forest School Program at White Pines from the beginning. Their knowledge and its impact on our camp programs will be significant.
We have noticed through the pandemic, that being able to get outdoors has allowed more freedom and less stress caused by COVID-19 protocols. As a licensed care provider, who also provides camp programs our protocols are very stringent, so time outdoors has been and will continue to be very important in our programs.
Since September it has been our priority to bring our preschool classes and their educators to White Pines Forest School throughout the year to benefit both children and educators. Their adventures in varied weather/seasons foster outdoor education and its implementation in all of our programs.
We hope to see you outside!
