Join the Ultimate Intro to Chess Camp for Youth!

Dive into the captivating world of chess at our Intro to Chess Camp, specially designed for kids aged 5-7, 8-10 & 11-13.  Camps are offered to different age groups to ensure the correct level of instruction & activity, supervision, to keep campers as comfortable as possible and to determine the number of counselors needed.

Each day, young minds will explore the foundations of chess, learning the basics and beyond through fun and interactive lessons. That's not all—our campers also enjoy a balanced array of activities including bonus arcade time, indoor and outdoor physical exercises and games, creative arts ‘n’ crafts, engaging scavenger hunts, board games, free play and VR Chess experiences! Plus, there is a great trip to High Park to check out the zoo, awesome playgrounds and do a nature walk. There are other chess lessons and camps out there, but not like this one.

We have lots of fun in this camp, but we are keen on teaching youth to play chess by the end of the week. At least the basics.

Key Highlights:

  • Daily Chess Lessons: Master the fundamentals and strategies of chess in a fun, engaging way.
  • Bonus Arcade Time: Extra playtime in our awesome arcade.
  • Physical Activities: Balanced mix of indoor and outdoor exercises to keep kids active and energized.
  • Bonus Immersive VR Chess Experiences: Let your kids be part of the chess board.
  • Creative Crafts: Get artsy with a variety of arts and crafts projects.
  • Board Games & Free Play: Enjoy classic board games and free play sessions.
  • Challenges & Prizes: Participate in friendly competitions and win exciting prizes!
  • Excursion: Fun trip to High Park.
  • Options for Food. For a small additional fee, we can supply lunch and snacks for your campers, but we also allow lunches to be brought from home.

Register now and let your kid’s mind expand!

Our camp offers a unique blend of learning and play, making it the perfect March Break experience for young chess enthusiasts. Feel free to reach out if you need any more details!

Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Self-regulation: Chess is a game of discipline, perspective, patience and problem solving. Our lessons start with the etiquette of the game. It is an important foundation and must be respected. Campers must learn to take turns, not to fidget, not to touch their pieces at inappropriate times, etc. Self control is key
  • Interpersonal skills: Campers must respect each other. Good sportsmanship is a mandatory part of this. Watching each other play and explaining and communicating what the motivations are for making different moves brings a togetherness to a group. It feels more like a team practising than competition amongst campers.
