Immerse your young artist in a graffiti art summer camp. This camp is a fun and creative way to learn about counter-culture and create some really cool projects! While creating and having fun, participants will learn tips and tricks for creating urban art, colour theory, and a little bit of street art history. Participants will complete four major projects:
• Sculpture
• Painting
• Streetwear (shoes and shirt provided)
• Mixed media
On the last day of the camp, parents and guardians are invited to attend an art exhibition showcasing their artist's creativity.
Instructor: Suzanne Piechotta
Calgary-based artist and art teacher Suzanne loves the expressive and endless ways to create in urban culture. A Painting graduate from the Alberta University of the Arts (2008) whose mixed media works include aerosols and the bright colours of urban culture, Suzanne is the Middle and Senior School Art teacher at STS, where she loves sharing her knowledge and creativity with her students. Her work has been shown throughout Alberta. Her most recent work was at Contemporary Calgary as a part of the 2022 People Portrait Prize.

After care available until 4:30pm to children 4-11 years of age.

Creativity: Campers will explore their creativity in a multitude of facets by being exposed to a more nuanced field of art.
Resilience: Urban art theory fosters resilience by encouraging individuals to express themselves authentically in unconventional ways. Through urban art, practitioners often confront societal norms and challenge established narratives, promoting resilience against conformity.
