(5) Overall experience

"Stand Up and Speak" was the one extracurricular activity my kids never said no to — and I truly mean that, especially considering how many nos I got for other things I signed them up for. My kids truly fell in love with Stand Up and Speak and the way Stand Up and Speak teaches public speaking. It means so much to me to see how they’ve grown and progressed. I truly enjoy watching the change and transformation in the way they carry themselves. It’s also a lot of fun — we share plenty of laughs together when they’re practicing for competitions.

(5) Reason for choosing the program

What really attracted me to the program was the focus on public speaking. And when I met the Stand Up and Speak team, I knew my kids were in the right hands. I couldn’t ask for a more knowledgeable, warm, and professional group of people. There are no hidden costs — everything is communicated clearly and transparently. The investment is small compared to the confidence and personal growth my kids have gained..

(5) Program quality and activities

The competitive program is all about gradual learning — building your speech step by step before the competition. Then comes the moment to showcase all that hard work. You shine, gain a little confidence the first time, then a bit more the next, and it keeps growing. It all feels so natural and smooth. One day, you decide to compare videos from when they first started to where they are now — and you can’t believe how much progress they’ve made. That’s the best kind of measurement, in my opinion — one that speaks for itself and can’t be argued with.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

They create a space that’s friendly, respectful, and truly uplifting — always full of smiles, encouragement, and warmth. The kids have fun and meet new friends who share their interests and want to learn and grow in public speaking. We had no issues; everyone is so friendly and polite. Good manners are encouraged and emphasized in all interactions and we loved it!

(5) Skills and growth

They’ve gained confidence — not just in public speaking and presentations, but also in how they carry themselves every day. Every competition is different, every speech is unique, but the challenge to practice, show up, compete, and deliver your best speech is an incredible experience and joy to watch my kids go through. It’s both motivating and fun to watch and support them as parent.

(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

The Stand Up and Speak team is everything you could hope for — professional, knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely approachable. If you have any questions, the team is always there to answer them. You receive videos of the practice sessions, so it feels like you’re right there in the classroom, able to see how your child is progressing and gaining confidence, which is truly heartwarming for us parents.

(5) Advice and tips

Don’t be afraid — you might be surprised by how easy it actually is. It’s fun to watch the kids, but it’s even more rewarding to support them, practice with them, and cheer them on throughout their public speaking journey. Being enthusiastic about it is already halfway to truly enjoying the experience. Taking the next step and enrolling completes the circle of growth and helps nurture the next great public speaker. This is "heart advice" from one parent to another.
