    Camp STEAM answered our questions

Who are you as an organization?

Camp STEAM is a summer day camp offered across Ontario, with programming in coding, technology, robotics, animation and more. Campers have the opportunity to execute large-scale projects with elements from all STEAM areas, teaching them how perspectives from all of these disciplines can be used to solve a problem in a unique way – their way! Register now at www.campsteam.ca.

What do you do differently or uniquely well?

"At Camp STEAM Canada, our goal is to prepare campers not simply for today’s jobs in STEAM fields (of which there is a critical need in Canada), but future jobs that don’t even exist yet – jobs that we could never even predict or imagine.
More than just learning how to do something that’s relevant for today, we seek to show them how to think about problems in new ways. To do that, we use the STEAM educational approach as well as problem-based learning. Campers are given the opportunity to use their natural curiosity to discover what could be possible, and to discover new and exciting ways to approach and solve problems, while leveraging tools like coding, robots, 3D printers and more!"

Who are your staff and counsellors?

"The majority of our counsellors are university and college students. We also employ teachers who want to do something in the summer, and graduates of Teacher Colleges across Ontario. A recent Vulnerable Sector Police Check is a mandatory requirement for all counsellors. There will be at least one counsellor present at each camp location with their First Aid certification at all times."

What do families need to know about registration?

"Registration for Camp STEAM is now open! Visit campsteam.ca for details and to register. "

The Our Kids review of Camp STEAM

    our take

Discovering new possibilities is the goal of Camp STEAM. This program prepares campers for future jobs in a STEAM field, even ones that don’t exist yet. Figuring out and solving problems using new ways to solve problems allows campers to use and sharpen their natural curiosity. Kids won’t just learn about science and technology, they’ll foster lifelong skills that will help them approach and solve problems with more confidence. Kids will work on projects that they choose, using tools like 3D printers and robotics, and they have fun doing so. What’s unique about this STEAM program is their three-pronged approach. Through the activities campers participate in, they explore new mindsets, skillsets, and toolsets, preparing them for the world ahead of them. Camp STEAM is a not-for-profit camp founded to change the way we think about STEAM, to examine what the future will bring, and to help meet the challenges of the present and future workforce.
