Teen Overnight Camp is designed for older campers to take on leadership opportunities, challenge themselves, and enhance their skills—all while having a blast with peers. This program encourages teens to unplug, explore, and engage with nature, themselves, and others in a supportive, high-energy environment. Life at Kee-Mo-Kee is active, social, and dynamic—focused on skill-building, personal growth, and creating unforgettable memories.

What makes this program special

Teen Overnight Camp blends classic overnight camp traditions with programming designed for older campers. Teens experience the full range of camp activities through cabin rotations and structured choices, while also taking on opportunities to lead, mentor, and contribute to the camp community. Emphasis on independence, teamwork, and self-expression allows campers to grow as individuals while connecting meaningfully with others.

The Fab 5 Activity Areas

All programming is rooted in our Fab 5 activity areas, each led by senior staff who bring expertise and energy:

  • The Pool – Daily swim sessions with fun, safe water-based activities for skill-building and relaxation.
  • Challenge & Adventure – Wilderness skills, climbing, low ropes, and team challenges that encourage risk-taking, problem-solving, and leadership.
  • Arts & Crafts – Creative expression through projects like zines, drawing, collages, and other hands-on activities.
  • Sports – Engaging games and athletic challenges like Gaga Ball, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and archery to develop teamwork, skill, and confidence.
  • Forest & Nature – Exploring the Carolinian forests and Komoka Creek, fostering curiosity, resilience, and appreciation for the outdoors.

What a typical day looks like

Mornings feature cabin rotations with two activity blocks, where teens rotate through all Fab 5 areas, challenging themselves and building camaraderie with their cabin group.

Afternoons focus on camper choice:

  • C.Y.O.A. (Choose Your Own Adventure): Teens select from a variety of activities—including athletic, creative, and wilderness options—allowing them to pursue passions or try something new.
  • T.N.T. (Try New Things): Teens select one skill-based session for the week, returning daily to develop expertise and confidence in a chosen area.

All-Camp Games unite the entire camp for large-scale adventures, fostering teamwork, friendly competition, and community spirit. During free periods, the Quad offers games and creative opportunities to hang out with friends.

Evenings feature programs such as campfires, talent shows, themed events, or cabin-led activities—providing moments for reflection, fun, and connection before bedtime.

Themes & takeaways

Weekly themes—from Wizards & Wonders to Adventure Awaits—guide challenges, games, and creative activities, encouraging teens to explore leadership, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships. Campers leave with increased independence, confidence, teamwork skills, and the joy of being part of a thriving camp community.

Teen Overnight Camp at Camp Kee-Mo-Kee is where older campers challenge themselves, grow as leaders, and experience the full excitement, fun, and friendship of summer camp.

Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Interpersonal skills: Teen campers develop empathy, cooperation, and communication by working in cabins, collaborating on challenges, and leading group activities. They practice listening, compromising, and supporting others, building strong relationships and the ability to navigate social dynamics.
  • Resilience: Teens face new challenges in sports, adventure, and wilderness activities, learning to navigate setbacks and uncertainty. With staff guidance and peer support, campers develop persistence, optimism, and confidence in their ability to tackle obstacles and grow from every experience.
