Few camps are as well-established and richly experienced as Camp Chief Hector YMCA Camp, an hour outside of Calgary. Spring Break camps, day camps, and other starter programs benefit from the camp’s decades-long history of giving kids a well-rounded traditional summer camp experience. Kids participate in activities like archery, rock climbing, and crafts, and take on challenges like horseback riding, canoeing, or hiking in the foothills. Yurt living, standard accommodation here, give them a unique experience they’ll remember forever! The most extensive experience here, Sac Dene camp—a nearly two-month summer program—displays the camp’s dedication to giving kids and teens unique experiences that help them grow independent and resilient. They take these skills with them throughout the rest of their lives, alongside camp memories, a deep respect for nature, and—not to be underestimated!—a renewed appreciation for city life.
