The Our Kids review of Academic Camp Canada

Academic Camp Canada, as the name suggests, an academic camp: kids attend to build facility with various aspects of the school curricula. That said, the experience goes well beyond the purely tutorial. Campers arrive from across Canada and around the world to two of the most inspiring academic environments in the country: the west coast camp is hosted at Brentwood College, and the east coast camp is hosted at Rothesay Netherwood School. Brentwood, with views of the ocean and the mountains from anywhere on campus, is easily a contender for the most beautiful campus in Canada. It’s close to nature, with lots of outdoor spaces for students to gather and interact. Rothesay, for its part, is also something of a jaw dropper. It dates to 1874 when the brilliantly named Ezekiel Stone Wiggins founded Thompson's School, a coed day school. The school remains true to a tradition of academic excellence, and the campus is rich with reminders of its long history. It’s also the alma mater of John Peters Humphrey, primary author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In all of that an much more, these are inspiring places. When campers arrive they join a community of academically oriented peers, in settings that celebrate the length and breadth of what education can offer. Administration is top-notch, with comprehensive support for campers arriving from next door, or the other side of the globe.

'A great combination of studying and having fun' at Academic Summer Bristolexpand

Very beautiful experience. A great combination of studying and having fun.

'I learned things I never knew' at Academic Summer Bristolexpand

Before I came I felt a bit nervous as it was all new to me... but we are all new, so it is easy to make friends. I learned things I never knew. I enjoyed activities such as hockey and also the classes - music, humanities, geography or experiments in science.

'Come here and you will find so many friends from different countries' at Academic Summer London expand

Come here, you will find so many new friends from different countries and it will be the best summer of your life. Teachers here are amazing, so helpful and friendly and learning is really interesting and interactive. Here you can't speak your native language, so you use English all day long.

'I enjoyed meeting with the doctor' on the Medical Programme at Academic Summer London expand

One of the best summer experiences I have had so far. I really liked the atmosphere, everyone is really ambitions and dedicated to do everything it takes to get university or course they wish to do in the future. I enjoyed the meeting with the doctor and the trip to the hospital. It is intriquing to see how the medical system is different in every country.

'I managed to see what is more interesting for me' at Academic Summer Cambridgeexpand

I really enjoyed studying in Cambridge, for I am planning maybe to study here. I like the city - it offers shopping, museum, university. As I want to study IB abroad, my aim was to study subjects, I do not have back at school: Environmental Systems and Societies, Economics, Psychology. I managed to see what I am better at and what is more interesting for me.

'I have been back for 6 years' Academic Summer London and Sidcotexpand

This is my 6th year at Academic Camp – this time I stayed in London. It is very good programme - studies combined with having a lot of fun. There are rules, but it is because they need you to keep safe, but there is enough freedom as well. You get to know London well.

'I loved the trips' at Academic Summer Bristol expand

I studied a selection of subjects including science, maths, humanities and art. I loved the trips, particularly the Bristol Science Museum and the activities – football and fencing. Fencing I watch in TV in Italy, but this was first time I was fencing myself. Watching it it feels simple, but doing it was much harder.
