(5) Overall experience

Attending the academic summer camp was one of the most formative experiences of my life. The business and entrepreneurship classes taught me practical skills I can apply in my studies, and my English improved a lot through daily interactions with students from different countries. The trips across Canada allowed me to explore stunning nature and try activities like sea kayaking and the adventure park. I met incredible people, including my first international bestie, and formed friendships that have lasted ever since. Overall, the camp boosted my confidence, inspired me to embrace new challenges, and left me with unforgettable memories.

(5) Unique value

The camp’s spirit is about curiosity, collaboration, and exploration. It encourages students to step out of their comfort zones, try new activities, and think creatively while learning. It’s a place where academic growth and personal experiences go hand in hand, and everyone supports each other in discovering new interests and skills. What makes this camp unique is how it combines structured learning with real-world experiences and outdoor adventures. Unlike typical programs, it allows you to apply knowledge in practical ways, travel, experience nature, and build meaningful international friendships that continue beyond the camp.

(5) Program quality and activities

Trying sea kayaking for the first time was exciting and really rewarding. It gave me a sense of accomplishment and taught me to stay calm and focused in new situations. I also found the workshops on entrepreneurship particularly valuable because they encouraged creative thinking and problem-solving in a hands-on way. Working in teams with students from different countries sometimes challenged me to communicate clearly and adapt to new perspectives. Taking on tasks I wasn’t familiar with, like presenting ideas in front of the group, also pushed me to be more confident and assertive.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

I created friendships with fellow camp participants, including my first international bestie. The camp fostered these lasting connections by encouraging teamwork, group activities, and open communication. Collaborating on projects, exploring new places together, and sharing both challenges and fun moments created strong bonds. Even simple traditions like evening reflections and group outings helped us connect on a personal level. These shared experiences made it easy to stay in touch after the camp, and I value the friendships and networks I built there.

(5) Skills and growth

Participating in the camp had a significant impact on both my personal and professional development. It helped me build confidence, improve my communication skills, and become more adaptable when facing new challenges. The business and entrepreneurship workshops taught me practical problem-solving, teamwork, and leadership skills that I still apply in my studies today. Beyond academics, the camp encouraged values like curiosity, resilience, and collaboration. Trying new activities, working with international peers, and navigating unfamiliar situations reinforced these qualities, shaping the way I approach challenges and opportunities in both my personal life and academic growth.

(5) Reflections and advice

I would advise future participants to embrace every opportunity, even the ones that seem challenging or unfamiliar. Try new activities, participate actively in workshops, and connect with as many people as you can. Also, bring warm clothes! The weather can be colder than expected. If I could do something differently, I would push myself even more to speak up in group discussions and try even more new activities to fully embrace every challenge.
