Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Self-regulation: Young Engineers supports children with ADHD by creating a structured, engaging, and flexible learning environment that works with how they naturally learnnot against it. Our programs are hands-on and movement-based, which helps children stay focused through building, testing, and adjusting real models rather than sitting passively. Activities are broken into clear, manageable steps, with regular transitions to keep energy and attention engaged. With a low instructor-to-student ratio (1:6), our mentors can provide individualized supportredirecting attention, offering encouragement, and adjusting pacing when needed. We focus on positive reinforcement, helping children build confidence through small wins. We also emphasize choice and creativity, allowing children to explore their own ideas within the project. This sense of ownership increases motivation and reduces frustration. Most importantly, we normalize mistakes and problem-solving. Children with ADHD often thrive in our environment because they are encouraged to experiment, think differently, and succeed in a way that feels natural to them.
  • Independence: Young Engineers supports children with autism by creating an environment that is calm, predictable, and respectful of individual needs. We use clear, visual, and step-by-step guidance, helping children understand what to expect and reducing uncertainty. Our builds are concrete and tactile, which supports learners who benefit from visual-spatial and hands-on experiences. Our instructors are trained to be patient, observant, and responsive, allowing them to adjust communication style, pacing, and level of support based on each child. Some children may prefer working independently, while others benefit from gentle guidance or structured collaborationwe support both. We also value consistency and routine, which helps children feel safe and more open to participating. Over time, many children become more comfortable engaging, sharing ideas, and connecting with peers. Our goal is to provide a space where children can focus on their strengths, feel understood, and enjoy learning without pressure.
