The Fall Enrichment programs are designed for children who are looking for greater challenges and new ways to stimulate their interest in math. Each group has a different special interest area.

Sections:

  • Grade 1/2: FUNdamentals

A section of Saturday Math Club designed especially for grade 1/2s. Participants will approach fundamental math concepts through a balance of hands-on activities, games, and crafts, and pencil-and-paper math. This program is designed in the same spirit as our other math clubs and summer camps, but tailored to the math skill level of our youngest participants. This program aims to teach and reinforce topics from the grade 1/2 curriculum.

  • Grade 2/3: Math in Espionage

This course invites students to explore a world of codes, puzzles, and problem-solving. Using math skills, they’ll practice cracking secret messages, solving complex problems, and spotting hidden patterns. Along the way, students will strengthen their logical thinking while experiencing the excitement of working like real investigators.

  • Grade 3/4: Math & Magic Tricks

In this course, students will explore the surprising connections between mathematics and magic. Each week, they will learn engaging math concepts through hands-on activities and interactive "tricks" that reveal the hidden patterns behind numbers. Topics will include number properties, divisibility rules, basic algebra, and logical reasoning - all presented in fun and accessible ways. By performing and explaining these tricks, students will strengthen their problem-solving skills, build mathematical intuition, and develop the confidence to share math in a creative and playful format.

  • Grade 5/6: Mathematical Logic and Principals in Computer Science

With the pervasiveness of technology in modern life, the study of computer science has never been more important! This course covers topics in discrete mathematics that are needed for theoretical computer science; students will have a formal introduction to the study of mathematical logic and will also strengthen their skills in algebra, combinatorics (counting), probability and more through hands-on learning and activities. [Please note that there will be NO CODING in this camp.]

  • Grade 7/8: Puzzles & Paradoxes

In this course, students will put their knowledge to the test when confronted with contradictions. From the Birthday Paradox to the famous Rubik’s cube, students will explore the wide variety of paradoxes while applying skills in probability, logic, geometry, and algebra. Along the way they will focus on their problem-solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking!

  • Grade 9/10: Mathematics of Spatial Geometry

In this course, students will learn the various applications of spatial geometry not only as a visual representation of mathematics but also the applications in various industries, including pure math research. Expanding upon the students’ understanding of a line, the wide variety of examples will develop their spatial reasoning for their further studies and careers. Examples include Euclidean constructions, tilings, tessellations, various geometric structures (both 3D & 4D) and their industrial applications, computer aided visualizations & simulations, etc. Class structure will include many hands-on activities alongside many historical lectures that provide a stronger overall understanding of the historical context of spatial mathematics and its development.

  • Grade 11/12: Advanced Math Club - Number Theory, Graph Theory, and Financial Mathematics

The Advanced Math Club is designed for students who are looking for a challenge in mathematics. In this course, you will explore how deep mathematical ideas can arise from simple questions about numbers, connections, and everyday decisions. We will dive into number theory, graph theory, and financial mathematics—uncovering hidden patterns in integers, solving puzzles about networks and connections, and understanding the math behind money and decision-making.

Advanced Math Club Schedule: Saturdays, 10 AM - 1 PM and 1 PM - 1:15PM (Q&A / Office Hours)
