The YES Virtual Award Centre makes it easy for teens to begin and thrive in the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award program from anywhere in BC and beyond. What makes us unique is the supportive, youth-focused community we create online where young people are guided step by step to set goals, try new things, and grow as leaders.

Participants choose their own activities in three key areas: Skill, Physical Recreation, Service  and complete an Adventurous Journey. Along the way, they build confidence, develop new talents, and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

A typical virtual session includes goal-setting check-ins, mentorship, and peer connection. Teens get the encouragement and accountability they need to keep moving forward, while parents can feel confident knowing their child is building independence, resilience, and leadership skills.

By the end of their journey, participants not only earn an internationally recognized Award but also gain experiences and achievements that set them apart for post-secondary applications, scholarships, and future careers.

Character Development: This program helps build the following traits

  • Independence: Teens take charge of their Duke of Ed journey by setting goals, managing progress, and learning from challenges. With guidance and encouragement, they grow into self-reliant leaders building independence, confidence, and resilience that lasts a lifetime.
  • Courage: Through new experiences, service, and challenges, teens learn to step outside their comfort zones. With encouragement and support, they build the courage to try, to fail, and to keep going, discovering resilience and confidence that carries into every part of life.
