(5) Overall experience

Sunnyside Up Camp is a fabulous camp experience. The warm atmosphere created by the staff is unmatched. You leave in the morning feeling that you are part of a kind and inviting community and the counsellors and staff go out of their way to make sure the campers feel welcome. The activities are so well-planned and varied throughout the weeks. The campers take part in everything from team-building activities to wellness programs, exciting science experiments, and wonderful arts and crafts projects that are on-theme for the week. A weekly field trip which is always well-staffed and planned are a highlight for the campers. Truly, the caring staff and the enthusiasm and dedication they provide for a memorable summer experience as well as the friendships forged among the campers are what bring families back summer after summer.

(5) Reason for choosing the camp

We chose this camp because there are a variety of activities offered throughout the week. The experience is well worth the investment as our camper is very happy and looks forward to attending camp daily. We were attracted to this camp originally through the word of mouth reviews which were always extremely positive.

(5) Program quality and activities

The camp itinerary aligned very well with our camper's interests as there is such a wide range of activities that are offered such as: nature, physical activities, science, and art. Team building and team cheers were always a fun activity we particularly heard great feedback about. The effectiveness of the program was demonstrated by the well-planned nature of the activities from week to week as there is a schedule that is followed to ensure a variety of activities.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

The social experience at camp is something that is always very important. We found our camper made new friends as well as strengthened existing friendships. There were no issues related to inclusion and staff went out of their way to ensure that the composition of groups of campers was aligned to the best interests of the campers. There were no issues related to inclusion.

(4.5) Skills and growth

Because the activities are so varied (wellness, science, sports, art) there are many opportunities for your camper to develop skills and grow. The skills gained also come from meeting new peers and learning how to socialize with friends as well as camp staff. Part of the skills and growth also come from field trips and the experience of seeing a new place and having the shared experience of a trip with one's peers.

(5) Staff/Instructors/Counsellors

The staff and counsellors are truly what makes this camp shine. They are so friendly and organized and truly enjoy their time during the summer. They always provide an update on how the day went and are very strong at communicating with parents during pick-up and drop-off. The counsellors are extremely mature and caring towards the campers and this is very important as a parent as you feel confident with how they manage the campers throughout the day.

(5) Advice and tips

I would suggest to anyone considering the camp to try Sunnyside Up March Break or Winter Break camp. This is a great way to get a sense of the staff and the programming and you can see if your child would be interested in being more immersed in the camp over the summer months. This is a wonderful community and we are so happy to be a part of it.
