Do you love nature and science experiments? This camp offers the opportunity to explore the beautiful 220-acre STS campus through the lens of biology, chemistry, and physics. Students will observe plants and animals and collect specimens in the laboratory for further analysis. Scientific investigation skills will be developed through hands-on and inquiry-based activities, including access to Virtual Reality equipment.

Camp Builder: Kim Willoughby
Kim, a Science Learning Leader at STS, has joyfully shared her passion for science with students for over a decade. In a former role, Kim was a Research Scientist and Sessional Instructor at the University of Calgary.

Guest Instructor: Dr. Louise Edwards
Dr. Louise Edwards is a learning and virtual reality (VR) designer/developer based in Canmore. In her varied career, she has studied the chemistry of magma as a research scientist, measured and reported industrial greenhouse gas emissions, taught high-school chemistry, and developed curriculum for K-12 and post-secondary programs. Having discovered the potential of VR for science education while a classroom teacher in Winnipeg, she now specializes in creating immersive and interactive experiences that help students and the general public learn abstract concepts in tangible ways, develop a deeper relationship with the Earth, and gain the scientific literacy required to engage with the modern world.
